Organizations have different personas involved in different stages of contract negotiation. Each of these personas performs different actions during the contract review or negotiation process. You can assign OCC access mode to a user profile based on the actions that users need to perform in Online Contract Collaboration (OCC). You must create a user profile for OCC access mode and then assign an access mode to the user profile.

You can also configure sharing settings to assign access to an agreement object. If you configure both access modes and sharing settings, users will have access according to the sharing settings. This means that the sharing settings take precedence over the access modes in OCC. If you assign read-only access in sharing settings to an agreement object, users can open the document in read-only mode irrespective of the access mode. A user can open a document in read-only mode if the document is being edited or viewed by another user, irrespective of the sharing settings and access mode. If you configure multiple access modes for one user profile, users will have access according to the latest access mode configured.

For information on various OCC access modes, see Working with Different UI Modes and Working with Documents.
