Use the Composer Lightning Component in Salesforce Communities to allow Community users to easily merge documents. Follow the steps below to configure the Composer Lighting Component for use in a Salesforce Community.

  • The Composer Lightning Component does not integrate with Community home pages. The Composer Lightning Component is intended for use on Record Detail pages in Communities. Additionally, the Composer Lightning Component is not intended for High-Volume Community Users, as opposed to standard Community users.
  • Composer does not support proxy URLs in Salesforce Communities/Experience Cloud.

  • Users cannot successfully launch the Composer Lightning Component in Communities when accessing it from Salesforce Mobile.

Set Up the Composer Lightning Component for a Customer Community

Prerequisites to Setup the Composer Lightning Component for a Customer Community

  • Create and activate Remote Site Settings for the Customer Community.
    1. Navigate to Salesforce Setup and use the Quick Find search box to access Remote Site Settings under the Security section.
    2. Click New Remote Site.
    3. Name the new Remote Site and paste in the Customer Community domain URL in the Remote Site URL field.
      • Example Remote Site URL for a Customer Community: https://granitehorse-16c4551c140.force.com
    4. Click Save.
  • Clone a standard Customer Community User profile, such as the Customer Community User Profile, to create a new a custom Community user profile.
    1. In the Profile section of Salesforce Setup, click Clone next to the standard Customer Community User profile.
    2. Name the name the new custom profile and click Save.
  • Enable the API Enabled permission for the new custom Community profile.
    • Navigate to the new custom Community profile in Salesforce Setup.
    • Click System Permissions.
    • Click Edit.
    • Check the Enabled checkbox field next to API Enabled and click Save.
  • Assign the new custom Community profile to Community users that will use the Composer Lightning Component.

    To assign a custom or standard Community profile to a Community user, the Community user must have initially been created from a Contact record. For more information on creating a Community user, see Create Communities Users.
  • Assign Conga Composer licenses to Community users that will use the Composer Lightning Component.

    Community Users do not need access to the Modify Metadata Through Metadata API Functions permission to use the Composer Lightning Component in Communities. In this use case, Composer saves the refresh token into the browser cookie instead of accessing custom metadata.
  • (optional) Check the Allow internal users to log in directly to the community checkbox field in the Administration section of the Workspace of a Community. This allows internal users to log into a Community and use the Composer Lightning Component.
    1. Navigate to Salesforce Setup and use the Quick Find search box to select All Communities.
    2. Click Administration.
    3. Click Login & Registration.
    4. Check the Allow internal users to log in directly to the community checkbox and click Save.

Set Up the Composer Lightning Component for a Customer Community
It is recommended to use the background mode parameter (DS7) with the Composer Lightning Component in a Community to provide the best user experience.

  1. Navigate to Salesforce Setup and use the Quick Find search box to access All Communities under the Communities section.
  2. Click Builder next to the Customer Community to access the Community Builder.
  3. Use the dropdown menu in the top left corner to navigate to a Record Detail page.
  4. Click the Components option on the left hand side.
  5. Scroll down to the Custom Components section and drag the Conga Composer Lightning Component onto the Record Detail page.
  6. Select a Solution Collection to use for the Composer Lightning Component.
  7. Click X after selecting the Solution Collection.
  8. Click Publish.
