About Conga Redline
Conga Redline is an AI-powered application that analyzes your third-party contract documents. It identifies deviations from your organization's standards, flags risky language, and recommends edits helping your legal team review and negotiate contracts faster with fewer risks missed.
When two parties enter a contract, each side drafts terms favorable to themselves. When your organization receives a third-party or reviewed contract document, your legal teams must review every clause to identify risks and negotiate changes. This process is time-consuming, manual, and prone to inconsistency across reviewers.
Redline eliminates this bottleneck. It reads the entire received contract, analyzes each clause against your predefined organization standards (called rules), and produces recommendations that tell your reviewers exactly what to change to bring the document into compliance. Recommendations are precise. Rather than replacing entire clauses, the agent suggests targeted edits to specific sentences or values.
How Redline works
Redline operates across two phases: an administrator configuration phase and a user execution phase.
Configuration
The administrator:
-
Defines clause-level and document-level rules in Conga CLM Solution Setup for Redline.
Assigns risk tiers (High, Medium, or Low) to unfavorable conditions in each rule.
- Groups rules into playbooks.
Execution
The user:
-
Opens the received document in X-Author.
-
Invokes Redline in the document (its recommendation is based on the playbook applied).
Redline generates recommendations based on the applied playbook and classifies each finding by risk tier (High, Medium, or Low), displaying an overall contract risk category. If no risk tier is specified, the rule will show an undefined risk.
-
Applies clause-level changes using the Apply button or make manual edits for document-level findings, then proceed with negotiation
Control Redline Availability
-
The
contract-copilotfeature flag must be enabled. -
The Use Redline Agent feature must be enabled in XA Feature Management.
-
Users must have Redline permission assigned through a permission group.
When the feature is disabled, Redline is hidden from the AiMe panel and is unavailable to all users in the tenant.
