Editing, Disabling, and Deleting Items in a Linked Field
A user with the List Admin permission can edit a linked field by adding or making changes to the Combo List options, as well as adding or editing the Linked Combo Field or Linked Multi-Select Field list items for a Combo List option. A List Admin can also temporarily disable or delete a combo list option or any of the list items for an option.
- Click the Gear Icon in the Navigation Toolbar, and click the Lists links.
- In the List Administration screen, locate the linked field by typing its name (or the first few letters of its name) into the Search field, and pressing the ENTER key on your keyboard.
- Click the linked field in the Fields List section to select it, and display the Combo List options for the Linked Combo Field or linked Multi-Select Field in the right side of the screen.
- Click to expand a Combo List option and display the linked list items.Tip:
The Combo List options associated with a Linked Combo Field or Linked Multi-Select Field are edited, disabled, and deleted independently of the linked field. In the screen shot provided, the Archiving, Creation, Management, Negotiation, and Renegotiation combo list options cannot be edited, deleted, or disabled in the same screen as the linked field.
- Edit the name of a combo list option by clicking its icon to enable the field, and typing over the existing text.
- Edit the name of a linked list item by clicking the icon for the combo list option, clicking the list item's icon to enable the field, and typing over the existing text.
- Add a linked list item by right-clicking the icon for a Combo List option, and selecting Add in the Add/Delete menu. In the New Item record, click to enable the field, and enter the name of the list item for the linked field.
- To add a sub-item to a linked list item, right-click its icon, and select Add in the Add/Delete menu.
- Disable a combo list option or a linked list item by selecting its Disabled check box.Tip:
While a combo list option and its linked list items must be disabled individually, deleting a combo list option will automatically delete all of its linked list items.
- Delete an individual linked list item:
- Click to expand the Combo List option.
- Right-click the list item's icon to display an Add/Delete menu, and select Delete.
- In the confirmation prompt, click Yes.
- Delete a combo list option, which will delete all its linked list items:
- Right-click the combo list's icon to display an Add/Delete menu, and select Delete.
- In the confirmation prompt, click Yes.
- Click Save.
