Creating a Category Hierarchy

A category hierarchy defines the structure of the product catalog. You can add sub-categories (also known as nodes) to a category, reorder categories, and associate products, thus build a hierarchy. You can create multi-level categories. For example: Home > Laptops > Model.

Prerequisite

You must have an existing non-leaf category as a parent or main category. For more information, see Creating a Category.

Building a category hierarchy

  1. Go to ADMIN SETUP> Product Administration > Catalog.
    The Catalog page is displayed.
  2. Search for the category in which you want to build a hierarchy.
  3. Click the category name link to open the category details page.
  4. In the Catalog section on the left side, click the expand icon to view the existing category hierarchy of selected category so that I can view sub-categories and associated products.
    Note:
    • The icon indicates how many sub-categories are associated with the parent category.
    • The icon indicates how many price lists are associated with the parent category.
  5. Click the ellipsis icon on to the category and select one of the following:
    1. New Sub Category. A placeholder for the sub-category is added under the parent category.
