Auto Populating Billing Preference

When you create a Quote, you can add the billing preference which is created in the Billing Apps. This preference is cascaded to the standalone and bundle products that you add to the cart. As a Sales Representative, you can manually overwrite the preference of the standalone or the bundle product. You can overwrite the preference for the entire bundle, or specific sub-bundles, or for specific components. Different sub-bundles or components can have different preference IDs.

You must ensure that the manual overwriting the preference adheres to the expected invoice output for the customers and ease of reconciliation for the finance users. For example, if the customer is being invoiced only for a bundle, and the seller's finance team wants the later to reconcile the options' billing amount with bundle's, the preference ID must be consistent across both parent and bundle during overwriting. Otherwise, the generation of billing schedules for options could be different from a bundle resulting in reconciliation issues. However, if there is no requirement or invoicing happens at the options' level, then options' preference can be different from the bundle, or different options can have different preference IDs.

If you do not specify billing preference on the Quote, then the billing preference mentioned in Account Location lookup is considered. If Account Location has no billing preference, then BillToAccount is considered.

If none of the above have billing preferences then the default org billing preference is considered.
