Concept
The process “Design Configurable Bundles” is used to create assemblies of products and/or services you select, according to compatibility rules. The outcomes of that process are called Configurable Bundles.
Definition: A Configurable Bundle (CB) is composed of a certain number of products to be selected, organized in a hierarchical structure, allowing the vendor (a sales representative, an e-commerce site, etc.) to propose these products to a prospect or a customer.
A Configurable Bundle is composed of:
- A list of products distributed across several selections and organized in a hierarchical structure.
- A set of rules between products to ensure a consistent result.
- A list of output data.
The sales structure is a tree-structure starting at the root Configurable Bundle. This root Configurable Bundle is composed of Selection Groups taht contain Selections. Selections contain products that you can select.
Definition: A Selection is an entity that asks you to select one or several products. It contains products, and rules regarding how you can select products. It is also referred to as SE.
Definition: A Selection Group is a logical grouping of Selections dealing with the same category of products. It is also referred to as SG.
The following actions can be conducted to define the sales dialog structure:
Structure
- The step “Structure” is used to design the structure of the Configurable Bundle and define the properties associated to the CB, SG and SE objects.
Product Rules
- In addition to the structural links, you can define rules between products via the “Product Rules” step; for example to control the compatibility of a combination of products belonging to different Selections.
Sales Breakdown
- In the “Sales Method” step, you define which prices and business properties will be used as outputs and displayed to you during the Configurable Bundle assembly. For each line, you can indicate how the computation is done at the bundle level, and which lines are used in the optimization step.
Rich Media
- The “Rich Media” step manages the association between the elements of the Configurable Bundle and multi-media content such as images, plug-ins, files, etc.
Translate
- Via the ‘Translate’ step you can customize the translation of your model and its associated data into all needed languages.
The following paragraphs explain how to use each step.
Tip:
Before entering the various steps of the modeling process, please make sure that:
- Your current environment in the Designer is correctly set (Team/Workspace/Release/Language)
- Ensure that you have sufficient access rights to enter and work on the Configurable Bundle.
- Ensure that you have the necessary team assignment to work on the Configurable Bundle.
- Check that at least one Sales Method and one Pricing Method have been created in the working workspace (if these are necessary).
- On the dashboard, click on the name or on the description of the Configurable Bundle you would like to open.Warning: Note that a Configurable Bundle needs to be included in a root Configuration Process to be used as a runtime object.
How to:
- The CP must be created following the standard process: Configurable Process Modeling.
- Only one Configurable bundle line must be added in the CP structure.
- Optionally, you can associate a Pricing method or design a codification at the CP and / or CB root line level. Check Defining the Sales Method for more details.Note: The Configurable Product (CP) root line is invisible in the generated Sales breakdown structure or in the Quote.
