Concept
The process “Design Guided Selling Processes” is used to create an interactive script that can be used inside the catalog in order to capture the customers’ requirements in a user-friendly way (meaning: by hiding the technicalities). This script will result in a specific set of products or services (which can be either standard items or Configuration Processes or services) that correspond to expressed requirements.
A Guided Selling Process (CP) is composed of a certain number of sales scripts, allowing the catalog user to express his/her requirements. The Guided Selling Process will perform a requirements analysis and return the corresponding catalog items (products or services).
The script structure is a tree-structure starting at the Guided Selling Process (= the project). This guided selling process is composed of forms which hold form properties.
Reference: For information about Forms and Form Properties, please refer to Design Configuration Processes – Building the Structure.
The following actions can be conducted to in order to define the script structure:
Structure / Build
- The step “Structure” is used to design the structure of the Guided Selling Process and to define the properties associated to the CP, Forms and FP objects.
Structure / Controls
- The structural links will be customized via the “Controls” step which will define the existence rules, nesting/looping rules, etc.
Structure / Constraints
- In addition to the structural links, the user can refine controls across the objects via the “Constraints” step; for example to control the compatibility of a combination of questions/answers between 2 Form Properties.
Rich Media
- The step “Rich Media” manages the association between the elements of the Guided Selling Process and multi-media content such as images, plug-ins, files, etc.
Access Rights
- The step “Access Rights” is used to create high level restrictions and/or override (under certain conditions) the controls specified in the other steps
BRC Dictionary
- Throughout the entire modeling process for the Guided Selling Process, whichever step you are working on, most of the properties (domain valuations of Form Properties, existence rules, constraints, etc.) can be defined and controlled using Business Rules & Constraints (BRCs).
Filter Method
- The step “Filter Method” allows specifying which products will be returned by the Guided Selling Process in response to the answers given by the end-user during the requirements analysis.
Event Logic
- The step “Event Logic” is used to specify which end-user event or CPQ Engine event will trigger a given action.
Translate
- Via the ‘Translate’ step you can customize the translation of your model and its associated data into all needed languages.
The following paragraphs explain how to use each step.
