Associating Additional Business Information
The usage of Business Information allows you to generate additional data associated to Manufacturing Process or Standard Item. These additional data allow you to provide structured information to be supplied to the shop floor, or necessary for (technical) integration purposes into
e.g. an ERP system
For a Manufacturing Process or a Standard Item, the additional data which represents this information is represented by a Business Information Grid (IG). These Business Information Grids are structured tables, for which the columns have been defined by Business Properties.
Each Business Information Grid consists thus of at least one column representing a Business Property, and at least one line representing the values for that column.
Defining a new Business Information Grid
In order to define a new business information grid for a Manufacturing Process, Standard Item, Bill of Material link or Operation, proceed as follows:
- [In the dashboard]
- Create a Business Property Set that will be used as a reference to create the Business Information Grid. Each Business Property of the newly created Business Property Set will represent a column in the future Business Information Grid.
- [In the dashboard]
- Open the Manufacturing Process of interest
- [In the menu toolbar]
- If you want to define a Business Information Grid for a Manufacturing Process or Standard Item, select the step “Structure”
- If you want to define a Business Information Grid for a Bill of Material link between a Manufacturing Process and its parent, or between a Standard Item and its parent, select the step “BOM Links”
- If you want to define a Business Information Grid for an Operation, select the step “Routing”
- [In the “Explore Structure” explorer]
- Select the Manufacturing Process, Standard Item or Operation to which you want to associate additional information by clicking on its description

- If you want to define a Business Information Grid for an Operation, select the step “Routing”
- [In the “Explore Structure” explorer]

Updating a Business Information Grid
In order to edit a Business Information Grid, proceed as follows:
- Open the Business Information Grid of interest

- Create as many lines as necessary by using the “add line” function in the menu toolbar.
- For each created line, provide a value for each column (none of the cells are required).
- [In the table]
- Provide values for each line by using one of the following options:
- Click in the column cell for a given line and enter the value “manually”.
- or
- Provide a “values BRC”. A “values BRC” will deactivate all manual cell updates for the given line and allows returning all column values for one or multiple lines.

When defining an “output alias” for a “values BRC” in a Business Information Grid, the CPE syntax will look as follows:

or
CPE.rootMP.wks/MP/myMp.businessInformationGrid[current] .wks/BPS/myBps.BP/myBp.value
or
CPE.rootMP.wks/MP/myMp.wks/RTG/myRtg.operation[1]
.businnessInformationGrid[current].wks/BPS/myBps.BP/myBp.value
Defining BRCs
The “BRC Dictionary” step allows defining BRC to be used in:
- The “Structure” step, for the Manufacturing Process or Standard Item attributes
- The “BOM Links” step, for the attributes on the link between a Manufacturing Process or a Standard Item and its parent
- The “Routing” step, for the Routing and Operation attributes
- The “Codification” step
- The “Matching” step
- The “Business Information” stepReference: Please refer to the following chapter for more details: How to design a BRC
