CRM Customization

The following chapter gives some tips regarding the way to parameterize the standard managed package to make it fit your business requirements. You will be able to modify the buttons, fields and translations but also to review and to complete the standard integration mechanism if necessary.

Warning: In any case, you have to make sure that the end-user can only access and modify the Smart CPQ Quote entity.
Warning: For setup purposes, you may have to modify the default Smart CPQ Quote and Smart CPQ Quote Lines.
information: To make changes to Salesforce and/or managed package setup, you have to log in using an administrator profile.

Customizing Labels and Layout

TRANSLATION WORKBENCH

Translating fields, buttons, and picklist values from Managed Package objects.

Overriding the Default Labels and Translations

Tip: Language constraints when installing Managed package

To benefit from translations installed in the CPQ managed package – specifically for picklists – you have to activate the ‘Translation Workbench’ in the Salesforce.com setup. The ‘Translation workbench’ also allows you to override the translations included in the managed package.

By default, to have translations correctly set for all elements of the managed package, you have either to activate the English language or be sure to define all translations for the language you want to use.

In order to modify the default translations:

  • Click on Translation Workbench in “Administration Setup”
  • Click on Override
  • Choose the label you want to override:
    • First filter to get the right list of fields (Filter criteria), and select a language to translate for
    • Then select a field in the "Field Label Override" column
    • Then type in the translation you want

In the example below, for English, the label of Bill To City will be "ToOverride".

Modifying the Smart CPQ Quote Layout

In order to modify the default Smart CPQ Quote page layout:

  • In the Object Manager Menu select the Smart CPQ Quote Object named CameleonCPQ__QxQuote__c.
  • Go to the Page Layouts tab.
  • Then you can edit the page layout (create a New one or click on an existing layout to edit it).

Adding a Field/List/Button

Then you can remove or add some fields (for example, add the activity history) using drag and drop from/to the header of the layout builder.

Warning:

We recommend NOT to modify the following default packaged fields:

  • Smart CPQ Quote Name (Can be edited by the end-user)
  • Status (Cannot be edited by the end-user)
  • Owner field (Cannot be edited by the end-user)
  • Account (Can be edited by the end-user)
  • Contact (Can be edited by the end-user)
  • Addresses – BillTo, ShipTo and SoldTo (can be edited by the end-user)

Important:

If you add new fields as part of the Smart CPQ Quote entity (or entities linked to the Smart CPQ Quote used in the Smart CPQ Mapping Set), pay attention to give them names different from those of the Smart CPQ Quote entity (or linked entity) so that there is no overriding during the synchronization with CPQ. If you define fields with the same name, only the values of the fields in the Smart CPQ Managed package will be synchronized.

Controlling the Field Access Rights

From the page layout you also control the access rights of each field of your Smart CPQ Quote, Quote Content, and Quote Release objects.

Click on the Properties of the field:

Then you can choose if the field is editable or not.

Modifying the UI Rendering

You can also define the properties of each page layout section by clicking on the Properties button.

You can modify the way fields are displayed.

To perform more advanced modifications (such as adding a new field in the layout), please refer to the topic Adding a Custom Field.

Modifying the Account Layout

The Smart CPQ Quote entity is by default linked to a parent Account. Thus it is possible to modify the layout of the Account entity to view the list of associated Smart CPQ Quotes.

CUSTOM LABELS

Translating labels and messages from Managed Package pages and lightning components.

From the Custom Labels page, you can see a list of all messages and labels displayed by the Managed Packages pages and components.

For each entry you can override the default translation of the package.

Adding a Custom Field

Based on your business requirement you may need to capture additional information on top of the standard fields of the Smart CPQ Quote object.

Custom fields can be created on the Smart CPQ Quote object or on the Smart CPQ Quote Line object.

In order to add a new custom field:

  • In the Setup menu open the Object Manager
  • Open the Smart CPQ Quote (CameleonCPQ QxQuote c) or Smart CPQ Quote Line object.
  • Select the Fields & Relationships tab
  • Then you can add a new custom field by clicking on New button on the Custom Fields & Relationship table.

Then you can:

  • Select the type of field
  • Enter the details (including the field Name which is used by the IN and OUT synchronization processes)

  • Establish field-level security
  • Add the field to the page layouts if needed (refer to Standard Salesforce Setup to change the page layout).

At runtime, here is an example of the page layout:

Manage Percentages Precision

The precision of Percentage-typed fields in Salesforce (V8.60.5+) has been harmonized with the corresponding fields or cells in Smart CPQ V13.1+.

This behavior is an enhancement and, as such, is now activated by default but a roll-back is still possible using a dedicated static resource available in the Salesforce package.

This page explains how to set-up this resource to continue using the previous mode.

STATIC RESOURCE

The static resource to create to activate the previous mode must be named

PROS_CPQ_ROUNDING_DURING_SYNCHRONIZATION.

Activation

In order to use the previous mode, the static resource

PROS_CPQ_ROUNDING_DURING_SYNCHRONIZATION must be created:

  1. In Salesforce, navigate in the Setup menu and open Static Resources.

  2. Click on New.
  3. Declare a new static resource named

    PROS_CPQ_ROUNDING_DURING_SYNCHRONIZATION with the following characteristics:

The expected file could be an image file in PNG format.

  4. Save.

Transition to the Lightning Web Component (LWC) Framework

Lightning Web Component (LWC) is a framework for creating modern user interfaces on the web, mobile apps, and digital experiences on the Salesforce Platform. With LWC, developers can use W3C web standards to build custom HTML elements with JavaScript and HTML, applying foundational concepts like HTML templates and shadow DOM.

The Salesforce managed package for Performance Quoting officially supports the Lightning Web Component (LWC) framework of Salesforce. All internal components of the package are using the LWC framework.

The Salesforce managed package for Performance Quoting is still compatible with Aura components if you still use them in your Salesforce instance. This page nonetheless describes a procedure that you can run at your own pace if you want to smoothly transition to the LWC framework.

No compatibility with Agreements and Subscriptions packages

CAUTION: Smart Agreements and Smart Subscriptions managed packages are not LWC-compliant yet and you must not move to the LWC framework if you leverage one or both of these managed packages.

ACTIVATION OF LWC FOR SMART CPQ

While it supports the LWC framework, the Salesforce package for Performance Quoting uses the Aura components by default for backward compatibility. If you want to transition to the LWC framework, it requires an activation in Salesforce.

First, open the Setup menu in Salesforce and search for Lightning App Builder in the left pane:

In the list of Lighning pages, search for QxQuote_Record_Page_BundledLwc and click on View. From there, click on Activation at the top right of the screen:

A modal window should popup offering you to activate LWC at three different levels:

  1. Org Default
  2. App Default
  3. App, Record Type, Profile

The three levels are described below.

ORG DEFAULT

This tab allows you to activate the Record Page as your Org default, meaning to use it for your whole organization.

From the Org Default tab, click on Assign as Org Default:

Then select the form factors for which this page should be used and click on Next:

Finally, review your assignments and click on Save if correct:

This record page is now the default one for your organization.

APP DEFAULT

This tab allows you to activate the record page as the default one for a selection of Apps in your instance.

From the App Default tab, click on Assign as App Default:

Select the Smart CPQx Lightning app in the list by checking the corresponding box. Click on Next:

Then select the form factors for which this page should be used and click on Next:

Finally, review your assignments and click on Save if correct:

This record page is now the one activated that will be used by default for the Smart CPQx Lightning app.

APP, RECORD TYPE AND PROFILE DEFAULT

This tab allows you to activate the record page as the default one at a finer granularity than in the

other tabs as you can select it for a combination of Apps, Record Types and Profiles.

From the App, Record Type, and Profile tab, click on Assign in Apps, Record Types and Profiles:

Select the Smart CPQx Lightning app in the list by checking the corresponding box. Click on Next:

Then select the form factors for which this page should be used and click on Next:

Then select the record types for which this page should be used and click on Next:

Then select the profiles for which this page should be used and click on Next:

Finally, review your assignments and click on Save if correct:

This record page is now the one activated that will be used by default for the combinations of App, Record Types, and Profiles that you selected.

CUSTOMIZATION

It may happen that you leverage the record page from the Salesforce package for Performance Quoting in one or several customizations in your CRM instance.

If you want to replace this page with Aura components by the new page with LW Components in your customization, follow the process below:

First, open the Setup menu in Salesforce and search for Lightning App Builder in the left pane:

In the list of Lighning pages, search for QxQuote_Record_Page_BundledLwc and click on its label.

From that page, you can now Clone the page to use it in your Salesforce instance:

In the left pane of the clone, scroll down to the Custom - Managed section:

That's where you can see the Qx-prefixed items provided by Conga. Some of them are suffixed by

Lwc and some have the same name but no Lwc suffix.

If you want to leverage LWC-compliant elements in your customization, you can modify the Lwc-suffixed elements.

For example, if you were leveraging the QxReportGenerator element in your customization, you can now replace it by the qxReportGeneratorLwc one.
