Adding a Custom Field

Using a custom field on the PROS Quote allows to capture information unique to your business process.

In order to add a new custom field:

  • Click on Create in “App Setup”
  • Click on Objects and select the PROS Quote Object.
  • Then you can add a new custom field by clicking on New button on the Custom Fields & Relationship table.

Then you can:

  • Select the type of field
  • Enter the details (including the field Name which is used by the synchronization process when returning from CPQ Content into the Force.com PROS Quote overview)

  • Establish field-level security
  • Add the field to the page layouts if needed (Cf.
  • Modifying the PROS Quote layout paragraph)

At runtime, here is an example of the page layout:

Warning:

Once you have modified the PROS Quote object, you have to perform the exact same modifications on the PROS Quote Release entity.

At any time, the definition of the PROS Quote and PROS Quote Release Force.com objects have to be identical.

Once you have created the custom field, this field will now be passed as a session setting when CPQ web service is called. It means that you can use this element in the quote header and/or total cells (Cf. the following paragraph) and/or use it as input parameter for the catalogs or configuration processes.

Tip: To use the value of the custom field in the catalog/configuration processes, use the following
CPE format::
