Quote Views

The Quote View menu (DATA MODEL > View Definition) is used to define different views of the quote - to show specific lines, columns, and/or fields. Lines are defined by filters and columns & fields are defined by components. The different views correspond to what you want to see at runtime in your quote - a selection of lines, columns and/or fields. Views are created here, then associated to a widget when defining the layout of the quote in the USER INTERFACE menu.

The Quote View interface shows the list of views in the left panel and the filters or components for each view on the right. The action bar allows you to:

  • Add a view,
  • Duplicate a view,
  • Delete a view.

When a view is selected in the left panel, you can configure the filters and/or components on the right. The filter lists are expandable/collapsible. Click on the Filters or Components buttons on the top of the right window to switch between them.

A new quote model has one view with one component by default. You can modify or delete this view if needed.

Filters and Post-Filtering Policy

Filters are used to define the lines you want in the view. There are 3 types of filters:

  • Prefilter folders matching criteria (advanced) - filters are applied at the folder level only.
  • Filter lines matching criteria - filters are applied on lines including lines in a folder (most commonly used).
  • Post-filtering policy (advanced) - define a post filtering policy.
Note: The filters defined here are administrator filters and cannot be changed by the end user. The end user can apply additional filters in the Performance Quoting application. The explanation on filters in Connect explains in detail how filters are applied. These principles apply to both admin and end user filters.

To add a filter:

  1. Click Edit for the type of filter you want to create.

Note: You can also delete filters at this level. This will delete all filters for the type of filter.
  2. Click the Select or search dropdown list to select a column or row condition.

  3. Add the matching criteria. The information required depends on which column is selected or if it is a row condition. In the example above, the filter on row type will show only lines that are "food" type lines, the filter on row quantity will show only lines with a quantity greater than 10, and the row condition will show only rows that have been added.
  4. Define the Filter logic. By default it is AND but it can be changed to OR.
  5. Click Save.

You can delete individual filters from the list, however you must also update the filter logic. For example, if you delete filter 3, the filter logic will be in error. You must remove the 3 from the filter logic to be able to save your changes.

POST-FILTERING POLICY

There are 2 options for post-filtering policy:

  • Show rows - define if you want to see all line, only folders, only products, products flat mode (only

products are displayed without line hierarchy), or all lines flat mode (all lines without hierarchy).

  • Show product sub-rows - define if you want to display only matching, all, or none. If you select only folders or products flat mode in the first dropdown, this dropdown is disabled (no sub-rows can be shown).

AGGREGATION LINE VISIBILITY

You can select the type(s) of line that are visible in the view. The goal is to decide whether you want Aggregation Lines to appear in the view or not.

Three options are available to you:

OPTIONBEHAVIOR
No aggregation Line (default)Standard quote lines are shown while aggregation lines are hidden.
Aggregation line onlyOnly aggregation lines are shown. Standard quote lines are hidden.
All linesBoth standard quote lines and aggregation lines are shown.

Components

Components are used to define groups of columns and/or fields for the view. At least one component is required per view. You can create several components if desired. Each component can be shown as a widget in the Performance Quoting application or used by APIs (CRM synchronization, document generation, etc.).

To add a component:

  1. Click Add in the component window (you can also Duplicate and Delete from this window).
  2. Give the component a name and choose the type: Columns, Fields, or Columns & Fields. Check if the component is used for a grid widget/export action.

  3. Once it is created, it will show as a tile on the components window (see above). Click Manage for each section to add the columns and/or fields for the view.
  4. Select the the column/field on the left, then click Add to add it to the Selected Columns/Fields list on the right. Click Select All to add all of the columns or fields.
    1. Use the arrow buttons on the right of the Selected Columns/Fields list to change the order.
    2. Click Save to save your changes.

  5. Sort the list in ascending or descending order. This is only available for columns.

As stated above, components are associated to widgets. For each component, you can see where it is used in the Where Used tab in the footer.

Is Used for Grid Widget/Export Action

This flag must be leveraged for components displayed in the left bar. Indeed, components not flagged "used for grid" are not taken into account for governor limits.

If two (or more) components are associated to a same view, and associated to two (or more) grids, filtering at run-time one grid will apply automatically the same filter on the other grid(s).

Components can also receive some default settings regarding columns (columns hidden by default, default width, columns which are docked) and lines (default density). These settings are defined in the User Interface section, on the Widgets.
