What is the Quote Designer?

Description

The Quote Designer is an application used to create quote models for Performance Quoting. Using the Quote Designer, you can define the CPQ process, screen layout, quote structure, and manage permissions and translations. The Quote Designer interface contains the following main menus:

DASHBOARD

The Dashboard contains the list of quote models. From the Dashboard, you can create, import, open, and activate a quote model.

USER INTERFACE

The User Interface menu allows you to define the quote process and layout. You can create steps, pages, and widgets. You can also define a theme to customize the look of your quote model.

DATA MODEL

The Data Model menu is where you define how your quote is structured and the data sources. You can create columns, line templates, fields, views, etc.

PERMISSIONS

Use the Permissions menu to define access rights for users (session states). Permission are defined for steps, pages, and actions. This allows you to control what each user can see and do when working on a CPQ quote.

Translations The Translations menu is used to define the translations available in the quote model. You can translate directly in the user interface or you can import and export translations with an Excel file.

SETTINGS

The Settings menu allows you to define global settings for the application, such as preferences,

locales, and currencies.

User Language and Display Preferences

The drop down menu in the upper right corner of the header allows you select the language and display preferences for the application. For the display preferences, the "Names" option displays object/element names and "Descriptions" display their descriptions (which are translated and may make object more recognizable).

In addition, you can change the Quote Display Locale to see how your descriptions will look at runtime.

This menu is available at all times from any screen of the application.

Multi-Users

Several users can edit the same DRAFT at the same time. If 2 users are updating the same entity (for example, editing the same formula on the same cell), the first user to save their changes will be able to update the entity. The second user will receive an error message asking to refresh the screen.

In addition, notifications will allow a user to know if someone else is updating the same quote model.
