You can use Microsoft AppSource to install the X-Author for Contracts as a Microsoft Word add-in on Mac or Windows operating system. 

Prerequisites

Microsoft Word must be activated with a license, and you need to have access to all the Microsoft office tools. For example, you need either a Microsoft Office 365 license or Microsoft Volume Licensing.

If you are using an Office MSI installer for Office 2016 the Microsoft Word version needs to be 16.0.4390.1000 or greater. 

Any version which is not supported under Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel by Microsoft as mentioned in this link : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-microsoft365-apps-by-date will not be supported in X-Author for Contracts also. 

Read permission to object Template Local(Apttus_Locale_c) has to be provided to avoid error message while opening a document using X-Author for Contracts . For more information, see Profile Settings and Security (conga.com).

To install X-Author for Contracts add-in 

  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. If you are installing the X-Author for Contracts add-in on Windows operating system, sign in to Microsoft Word.
  3. Select the Insert tab and click My Add-ins.
  4. Select the Store tab.
  5. Use the search box to search for the X-Author for Contracts add-in. For example, you can use Conga or X-Author Contracts keywords to search for the add-in.
  6. Click Add next to the X-Author for Contracts add-in.
  7. Review the license terms and privacy policy and click Continue.

In the Home tab of Microsoft Word, you can see the X-Author Contracts ribbon.

Note

In case you are a European customer, in the App store, search and find X-Author Contracts (EU) add-in and install the same.

To remove the X-Author for Contracts add-in if you are a Windows user

  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. Go to Files Menu>Options. This opens the Word Options page.
  3. Click Customize Ribbon Menu. Under Customize the Ribbon drop down list, select Main Tabs. The list of Main tabs are displayed. 
  4. Select X-Author for Contracts and click Remove button and click OK. The X-Author Add-in is removed. 

To remove the X-Author for Contracts add-in if you are a Mac user

  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. Go to Word Menu > Preferences >Ribbon & Toolbar. This opens the Ribbon & Toolbar page.
  3. Click Ribbon Menu. Under Customize the Ribbon drop down list, select Main Tabs. The list of Main tabs are displayed. 
  4. Select X-Author for Contracts and click left Arrow button and click Save. The X-Author Add-in is removed.

Ensure that you have verified the installed packages in your org. If both Conga CLM and Conga CLM (Contracts for Salesforce) are installed in the org, you must create an admin entry APTS_DEFAULT_PACKAGE and  APTS_XAAddInLoadType in Conga CLM for the user to decide which CLM to connect to.
