This section covers all required tasks for upgrading Approvals to the latest version from the previous two releases.

If you have not installed Approvals, contact Conga Support to request an installation link; then perform the standard installation described in Installing Conga Approvals.

Preparing for Upgrade

Prequisites

  • Review Approvals Feature by Release to learn about the new features, enhancements, and deprecated features in Approvals since your installed release. After upgrading to February '23, you cannot roll back to a previous release.
  • Review and conform to the February 2023 SRSP Matrix. 
  • Have access to the Install Center on the Conga Community Portal for Approvals managed package and dependent packages.
  • Have administrator privileges to your Salesforce org.

You need not back up your configurations. All configurations you performed since you installed your existing release will remain intact after the upgrade.

Upgrading to Approvals February '23

This section offers step-by-step instructions to upgrade from May '22 and September '22 to February '23.

Upgrading Approvals September '22 to February '23

  1. Go to Setup > Installed Packages and ensure that the following September '22 packages already installed in your Salesforce org.

  3. Perform the upgrade, using the same procedure as the installation. Install the required managed packages in the order shown in the table below. For detailed information on installing managed packages, see Installing Conga Approvals. 
  4. Update the app name and app logo to reflect the latest Conga branding. For more information, see Updating App Name and App Logo.
  5. After the upgrade is complete, perform the post-upgrade tasks.

Post-Upgrade Tasks

After upgrading the Approvals package and dependent packages, you must ensure that:

  • All custom settings are correct as described in Approval System Properties and Approvals Custom Config Settings.
  • All upgrade scenarios work as they did in the previous release.

    • Callbacks: Callback class has not changed.

    • Metadata changes: All pick-list type fields validated.

    • Layout changes: Layout changes validated.

    • RemoteAPIcalls: All API calls are functional.

  • All approval process data works after the upgrade, including submit, approve, and reject flows.

The upgrade procedure above has been tested against a basic setup, not custom code or triggers.
