Viewing Conversations

  • You have permissions to view conversations.
  • You have access to the supported record (contract, contract request, supplier request, supplier, or account).
Contract Managers require visibility into all conversations associated with a contract and its amendments to track discussions, decisions, and shared documents efficiently over time.
From the Conversations Page, the list view displays all conversations that the user is authorized to access, sorted in reverse chronological order (last modified first). Each conversation in the list view includes the following summary information:
  • Subject
  • Participants
  • Last activity (last modified user and duration)
  • Count of posts/comments
  • Count of attachments
  • External participant involvement

When a contract has amendments, Conversations provides a unified view of conversation threads across the full contract lineage, so you do not have to open each version separately to find prior context.

When you open the Conversations page for a contract that has amendments, the list view shows a unified list of conversation threads from the original contract, previous amendments and subsequent amendments. This view is available whether amendments are:

  • Created automatically by the system (system‑defined amendment chain), or
  • Linked manually by users (manual amendment chain). Manual contract relationships can be created using the Relationship tab in the LINKS panel of a contract. For more information, see Contract Relationships.
Each conversation thread displays a version badge for a contract and its amendments (for example: CON40581, CON40581.1, CON40581.2) to show which contract version the thread is associated with. Hover over the version badge to see a tooltip with additional version context (for example, contract vs. amendment name). When you open a conversation, the thread header also shows version context so you know which record the conversation belongs to.

Unified conversation visibility supports both system‑generated and manually linked amendment relationships. There's no fixed system limit on the number of amendments in a system-generated amendment chain; this is effectively user-controlled. However, it's recommended avoiding very deep amendment chains to prevent long, hard-to-navigate amendment links.

Limitation on Conversations for Amendment :

Manual amendment chains: Supports up to 10 levels in the amendment chain. This is to prevent performance degradation and avoid issues with very long or circular link structures. Conversations beyond this limit are not guaranteed to appear in the list.

Note:

The Manage Conversations button is available on supported records at all lifecycle statuses. There are no status-based restrictions on button visibility. You can access the Conversations page for a record regardless of whether it is in Draft, Active, Expired, Terminated, or any other status.

This applies to all supported object types: Agreement, Contract Request, Supplier Request, Supplier, and Account.

  1. Open a supported record (for example, a Contract, Contract Request, Supplier Request, Account, or Supplier).
  2. Click Manage Conversations.
This displays all the conversations for the record.
  3. Select a conversation to review its complete message history.
  • You can view all conversations that you are authorized to access; however, you can respond only to conversations in which you are a participant.
  • Complete message history for each conversation is visible.
  • Conversations are clearly differentiated by the record, attachments, and external participation.
