General Settings
You can configure settings that are required to manage a contract life cycle.
To configure general settings
- Click the App Launcher icon () and select Contract Apps.
- Click the CLM Admin () icon from the left pane.
- In the CLM ADMIN SETUP panel, select General Settings.
- Update the following settings as required and click Save.

Document Password | Enter a password to restrict document access. By default, the password is masked. Click the eye icon () to view the password characters. | Conga#123 |
Document Naming Convention | Enter a value to apply a custom naming convention for documents generated as a result of the following actions.
You can specify the Contract object field names in the sequence to be included in the document name. You must preface all field names, except the following, with a colon: You must preface lookup-field names with a colon and also a suffix .Name to it. For example: %: The following field names must be specified without a colon prefix.

Watermark Text | Enter the watermark text that appears on the document generated, regenerated, or previewed. The output displayed on performing "Preview" action contracts always shows "Draft" as the watermark text, irrespective of the text specified in the Watermark Text field. | Confidential |
Show Related Documents | Toggle this button on to show a list of parent, child, or sibling documents in the Related Documents tab when users send agreements for simple review, Microsoft 365 review, or for signatures. | NA |
Editable Contract Number for Contract Request Form | Toggle this button on to edit the contract number when creating a contract request. By default, this setting is turned off, preventing edits to the contract number. | NA |
Hide Create New Contract Form | Toggle this button on to skip the Create a New Contract form for users with access to only one contract type. This creates a contract and navigates directly to the contract details page. | NA |
Restrict Editing after Activation | Toggle this button on to prevent users from modifying any contract records, including amended or renewed ones, once the contract is activated. By default, this setting is turned off, allowing users to edit contract records and their amendments or renewals. | NA |
Contract Number | Prefix: Enter a unique identifier for categorization and easy reference to essential contract details.

Sequence Padding: Add leading zeros to contract numbers for consistent formatting and easy sorting. This is a required field if a value is entered in the Prefix field. For new tenants, the Sequence Padding field is pre-populated with the seed data 0000000 by default for the contract number. |

Cycle Time Report | Toggle this button on to track the time a contract record takes to move from one stage to another on the Reports & Dashboards page. By default, this setting is turned off, which stops any cycle time data from being created and prevents cycles from being tracked and reported. Cycle time reports only apply to contract records created after this setting is activated. |
