  2. From the options listed, select HTML Editor and click Next
  3. Input your Template Name. Optionally, input a description for your template.
  4. Under the JSON Data window, select an existing data model to pull merge field information. If you do not have any existing data models, you can upload a JSON file containing your data. For details regarding this process, refer to Conga Platform Data Models.
  5. While in Edit mode, type text into the HTML window to input text, and insert merge fields using the data model in your JSON Data window. You can use any of the toolbar functions to enhance your template.
  6. While in Settings mode, you can find the metadata of your template, regarding the creator of the template, template type, date created and File ID. For more information on the use of the File Id, refer to How to get File Id for Composer API Request

Using Merge Data

Merge fields provided by your JSON data model will be provided in the correct format to apply to your HTML Template.  When selecting a field with the Copy icon (), it will copy a single merge field to paste directly into the template. When selecting the Table icon (), it will copy the entire array of data affiliated with that table. Click the Merge Toggle () to close or open the JSON Data window.

Click the Sample Data switch to see a preview of your template as it will appear when merged. The sample data will be determined by the selected data model and if you had allowed for sample data to be shown in Conga Platform Data Models.

When Sample Data is activated, you cannot edit the template. Sample Data must be deactivated to make modifications to the HTML template.
