The Doc Fields tab displays all the fields in the currently open contract document in the order they appear on the pages. You can take the following actions on fields in the contract (agreement):

To view and change fields

  1. Open a contract.
  2. Click the Unlock () icon and select Acquire.
  3. Go to Data > Doc Fields to view the list of all the smart fields inserted in the document.
  4. Use the Search box to find a field by keyword, and press Enter to display a list of smart fields.
  5. Expand a field to see its current value and previous values, and click any value to highlight the field in the document.
  6. To change the current value of a field, put your cursor inside the double curly braces of the field within the document, and make changes. The Modified tab lists all the smart fields whose values have been changed.

    You cannot check in the agreement document until all fields are corrected to a valid format. To learn more about field validation, see Validating Fields.

  7. Check the document in. This opens a current instance of the agreement document.

The changed field values are updated in the agreement document. If you choose to reconcile fields during check-in, they will also be changed on the agreement record.

To delete a field from a contract

  1. Open a contract.
  2. In the Contracts pane, go to Data > Doc Fields. The list of available smart fields in the document is displayed.
  3. Expand a field from the list and click the More () icon.
  4. Click Delete. The field is marked with a strikethrough in the Doc Fields tab to denote that it has been marked for deletion.
  5. Check the document in and choose Reconcile to open a current instance of the contract document. In this document, the deleted smart field is still displayed with the same value, but the smartness of the field is removed. If you choose to reconcile fields during check-in, they are also changed on the agreement record.

You can also use the Backspace or Delete key on your keyboard to remove fields. If you delete a field while in Suggesting mode and do not accept the change, the deleted items will not appear in the reconciliation.

To undo a deleted field

  1. Open a contract.
  2. In the Contracts pane, go to Data > Doc Fields.
  3. The Doc Fields tab lists all the smart fields present in your contract.
  4. Expand a deleted field from the list and click the More () icon, and then click Undo Delete.

You can perform an Undo Delete during the same session in which you deleted a field.
