X-Author for Chatter

This section lists the terms and their definitions for the X-Author for Chatter application.

Term	Definition
Check-in	Action on the X-Author Chatter ribbon that checks a revision or new version of a document into Salesforce. New documents checked in cannot already exist in Salesforce. When a document that already exists in Salesforce is checked in, its version number is incremented and its contents replace the existing file.
Check-out	Action on the X-Author Chatter ribbon that allows a user to download and work on a document that exists in Salesforce. Multiple versions of the same document can be checked out at a time.
Post	A comment posted to Chatter as part of the collaboration process.
Recent Files	An action taken from the X-Author Chatter ribbon that allows users to open the fifteen most recent documents collaborated on in either Word or Salesforce.
Selected Content	Content highlighted in the active document window that has been selected for sharing in Chatter.
Translate	Action from the X-Author Chatter ribbon that allows users to translate documents for use in Chatter and has support for 39 languages.
X-Author Chatter	A proprietary add-in for Microsoft Office applications that integrates Salesforce Chatter with X-Author features.
X-Author Chatter ribbon	A Microsoft Word custom ribbon that allows X-Author Chatter users to check out, check in, and collaborate on documents in real-time, using Salesforce Chatter functionality embedded in the Word interface.
