Product Attribute Rules (PAR)

PAR are a set of rules that govern the behavior and constraints of product attributes within the Conga Platform. These rules ensure that product configurations follows predefined standards and business logic.

Key Components

  1. Attribute Definition: Specifies the characteristics and constraints of an attribute.
  2. Product Scope: Define the product, product family, and product group.
  3. Rule Actions: Outline the actions to be taken when the conditions are met, such as updating values or triggering notifications.

Use Cases

  1. Ensuring Data Integrity: Enforcing constraints on attribute values to maintain data accuracy.
  2. Automating Processes: Triggering automated actions based on attribute values.
  3. Enhancing Product Configurability: Enabling complex product configurations through dynamic attribute rules.

Attribute Value Matrices (AVM)

AVMs provide a structured way to manage and map out the relationships between different attribute values. This matrix format allows the management of complex attribute dependencies and combinations.

Key Components

  1. Matrix Definition: Specifies the structure and dimensions of the matrix, defining which attributes are included.
  2. Attribute Scope: Define the product, product family, product group, and account location.
  3. Value Mapping: Details the possible values for each attribute and how they interrelate within the matrix.
  4. Dependency Rules: Outline the dependencies and constraints between different attribute values.

 Use Cases

  1. Managing Complex Configurations: Simplifying the management of products with multiple interdependent attributes.
  2. Ensuring Consistency: Maintaining consistent and valid attribute value combinations across products.
  3. Streamlining Product Setup: Facilitating the efficient setup and modification of product configurations through structured attribute management.

Navigating the Attributes Page

When you launch the Attributes Rules page on the UI, all the existing PAR and AVM are listed on this page on their respective tiles along with their details. There are various functionalities available for you to manage the attributes.

Managing Views

You can manage column width, control which columns are displayed in the grid, freeze/pin a column range, or rearrange the column order. You can also filter the view of records in the grid by performing a keyword search, filtering the list by column value, or applying one or more advanced filters and filter logic. For more information, see Managing the View Settings and Filtering the Records.

Actions available on this tab

  • Click Create New > Attribute Value Matrix to create a new AVM.
  • Click Create New > Product Attribute Rule to create a new PAR.
  • Click the ellipsis icon () next to the PAR or AVM name to delete an existing rule.
  • Use the Active switch to activate or deactivate a PAR or AVM.
  • At the top of the page, you can see Product Attribute Rules and Attribute Value Matrices tiles along with a total count of rules under that rule type. Click the required tile to view a list of rules or matrices.
  • Export the selected option groups. For more information, see Exporting Records.
