Adding Details to a Price List Item
- Go to the Price Lists page (ADMIN SETUP > Pricing Administration > Price Lists).
- Click a price list name link to open the Price List Details page.
- Click the Price List Items tab.
- Click the advanced setup icon () next to a price list item name. The price list item details page is displayed.
Select the Details tab and enter the following details:
Field Description DETAILS Charge Type Select a charge type. These are a separate, identifiable element of charges that can be used for pricing. For example: Standard Price, Maintenance Fee, Installation Fee, and more. Active Turn the setting on to make the price list item active. Charge Type Criteria Configure charge type criteria.
This is used for conditional charge types that are included only if a certain criterion is met and as part of adding the main product to the cart. Define this criterion against a Line Item or Attribute field value to apply the price list item when the criterion is satisfied. For example, this may be a charge type based on workstations, while the product may have a charge type based on users.
A product must have at least one price list item without any charge type criteria to be priced in the cart.
If you are using the Charge Type Criteria setting, you must define a criterion for all PLIs (Price List Item)s. Do not define that same criterion for more than one PLI. Criteria must be mutually exclusive so that CPQ does not apply two PLIs while pricing a product.
List Price Enter a list price for a product in the price list item. If the price list item has matrices or may be overridden, enter 0
or null as the list price.Cost Enter the product's cost.
The Cost field now displays as currency.
Price UOM Select a unit of measure from the list to define a set of units of measure. Effective Date Enter an effective date for the price list item. Expiration Date Enter an expiry date for the price list item. Min/Max Applies To Select an option from the Min/Max Price Applies To drop-down to apply it.
- Base Price - This is the derived price for a product when you add it to the cart. This can be same as the list price or different from the list price, if you have defined a price matrix or a price rule that dynamically arrives at the price of the product based on other factors.
- Extended Price - This is derived by (Base Price * Quantity * Term) + (Option Price * Quantity) where (Option Price * Quantity) is applicable in case of a bundle scenario.
When you select an option from the Min/Max Price Applies To drop-down, the pricing engine considers the value you enter in the Min Price or Max Price field as minimum or maximum price of the product.
When Min/Max Price Applies To = Blank, the pricing engine considers the value you enter in the Min Net Adjustment % or Max Net Adjustment % field as a minimum or maximum net adjustment percentage.
Min Price/Net Adj % Enter the minimum price or minimum net adjustment percentage. If the adjustment is a discount, use a negative number (for example, -5). You cannot enter a minimum price or net adjustment percentage that is greater than the maximum price or net adjustment percentage. If you enter, CPQ displays an error message on the Save action. Max Price/Net Adj % Enter the maximum price or maximum net adjustment percentage. You cannot enter a maximum price or net adjustment percentage that is less than the minimum price or net adjustment percentage. If you enter, CPQ displays an error message on the Save action. Price Type Select One Time, Recurring, or Usage. Selecting Recurring or Usage enables the Frequency field. For instance, to add a subscription product, choose Recurring as the type and then specify the frequency as monthly, yearly, and so on.
Price Method Select one of:
- Per Unit: Multiplies the price by the quantity.
- Flat Price: Applies a flat price.
- Percentage: Enables the Percent, Percent Applies To, and Related Price List Item fields.
- Related Price: Used when the price is calculated as a function of the price of other lines in the same shopping cart.
Tiered Rate: Default price method for the Usage price type.
If you selected Usage in the Price Type field, select Tiered Rate here. CPQ does not prevent you from creating other combinations, but you might not get appropriate results.
Frequency If your Price Type field selection is Recurring or Usage, select an option to indicate how often the product shall be charged. Related Adjustment Amount Source This field appears when you select Price Method as Related Pricing. Related Adjustment Amount Source allows you to define the related adjustment amount source as a dynamic value using expressions within the line item context.
- Click Expression define the adjustment amount on related pricing as an expression to have a dynamic adjustment value.
- Go to the Field tab and search for your desired field from the list. Click the arrow next to the field name to view and select its related child fields. The formula expression, determined by the selected object-field and/or subfield, appears on the right panel of the formula builder.
- Click Insert to add it to the expression.
- Go to the Functions tab, select a function from the list, and click Insert to add it to the expression.
- Click any operator available below the expression window to add it to the expression.
- Continue building your expression.
- Click Clear to remove the entire expression, or manually remove it by pressing the Backspace key.
Click Validate to check your formula. The application verifies the formula and displays a confirmation message if it is valid. If the formula is invalid, an error message is displayed.
