A product in CPQ terminology is a product or service that can be set up to be sold on its own as a standalone product or options of other products. Products or services are set up as standalone, bundle, or options of other products. You can associate a product to a category or a price list.

Navigating the Product Page

When you launch the CPQ Revenue Admin UI, the Products page is displayed. All the existing products are listed on this page along with their details. There are various functionalities available for you to manage the products.

Product Search

You can narrow down the products list using the search feature. You can either define search criteria to search for a range of products or use the product search option.

Basic Search

In basic search, you can search for a product using keywords. For example, you can search using the name of the product. 

  1. In the Search this list field, enter a keyword related to your product details such as product name.
  2. Click the search icon or press Enter. CPQ returns all products that contain that keyword in the product details.

Advanced Search

In advanced search, you can search for a product using a search query.

  1. Click the Advanced Search icon . The Advanced Search pop-up is displayed.
  2. Enter the following details: 
    1. Field: All product fields are available in the drop-down list such as Product Name, Product Code, Configuration Type, Product Type, Active and Last Modified Date.
    2. Operator: Operators that are available for selection helps create the filter expression. Operators are displayed based on the field types. For example, a picklist value will display equal to and not equal operators and a text field will display equal to, not equal to, starts with, contain, does not contain operators. If it is a multi-value picklist, the application displays include and does not include operators.
    3. Value: Select a value.
  3. Click Apply to enable the search filter. CPQ returns all products that match the criteria.

Sorting Products

You can sort the product by clicking the column names. The products are sorted alphabetically by product name in ascending order. Every time you click the column name, the sorting switches between ascending and descending order. You can adjust the column width by dragging the columns. Hover near the column boundaries till two-way arrow appears. Click when the arrow appears and drag left or right to adjust the column width.

Actions available on this page

  • Click Add New to create a new product.
  • Click the ellipsis icon () next to the product name to edit, clone or Bundle Map an existing product.
  • Click the product name link to open the Product Details page.
  • Use the Activate switch to activate or deactivate a product.

Items per page

At the bottom of the page, you can see the total count of products available. You can control the number of products to be displayed on each page. You can select the number of products from a predefined list. You cannot configure this list. By default, you see 20 records on each page.

By default, you can sort 10, 20, 30, 50, and 100 products per page using the Rows per page drop-down. This feature works in association with the search and filter functions to display search records per page. You can use the < and > buttons to move to the next or the previous pages. You can also jump to a certain page using the page search component.

Navigating the Product Details page

  1. Go to ADMIN SETUP > Product Administration > Products
  2. Search for the product you want to update.
  3. Click the product name link to open the Product Details page.

Actions available on this page

  • Click the setup or configure icon and click Edit page to edit the layout of the Product Details page. You can add or remove custom fields to the product layout (Basic Information and Additional Information) from available list of product fields so that you can capture the additional product information of product. You can browse the list of all fields available from the product object. You can select one or more fields to add to the layout which are not part of layout.
  • Under USAGE REPORT, associate the product with:
    • Categories
    • Price lists
    • Attribute groups
    • Option groups
    • Product groups
    • Constraint rules
  • Click Activate to activate the product.
  • Click Deactivate to deactivate the active product.
  • If the product is activated, click the ellipsis icon () next to Deactivate button to Publish or Clone the product.
