External Integration

External Integration enables administrators to define how users from external identity systems access the Conga Advantage Platform. This is essential for organizations that rely on third-party identity providers (IdPs) such as Azure AD, Okta, or other SAML 2.0/OIDC-compliant systems to manage user authentication and access control.

Using the External Integration tab in the admin interface, administrators can view, configure, and maintain connections to these external IdPs. Each integration facilitates user authentication by verifying identity based on the credentials provided by the external system. This ensures a secure, centralized login experience for distributed user populations.

Administrators can configure multiple external integrations depending on business and regional needs. However, only one IdP can be set as the default, ensuring a consistent authentication flow for new or unclassified users. This setup allows organizations to maintain tighter control over access, comply with security policies, and support federated identity across different user groups or business units.

Note: Conga IdP is available Out-of-the-Box (OOTB) as a default IdP.

For advanced use cases or automation needs, administrators can also manage external integrations programmatically using the Organization External Integration APIs.

Note:

When the external integration is refreshed and the Organization ID (Org external ID) changes, you must reauthorize or update the existing integration to use the new Organization ID in the Conga Advantage Platform. For more information, see Reauthorizing Platform Connection After External System Refresh.

Adding a New External Integration

  • You are an administrator.

  • You have necessary credentials and information for the OIDC and SAML 2.0 identity provider you wish to integrate.
    Note:

Salesforce, Salesforce Sandbox, and Microsoft OIDC are available Out-of-the-Box. You can configure any SMAL 2.0 identity provider.

This task guides you through the process of adding a new external integration to your system. External integrations allow your platform to communicate with third-party identity providers and enhancing authentication.

  1. Log in to the Conga Advantage Platform as an admin user.
  2. Click the App Launcher () icon from the top-left corner; then go to Admin Console > Organization.
  3. Open the External Integrations tab.
  4. Click Add New and choose the Identity Provider from the list.
The Add New External Integration screen appears.

  9. Add the description.
  10. Enter the email domain you want to associate with designated IdP. It can be added for administrative purposes.
  11. Enter the display name for the identity provider.
  12. Enable the Default IDP toggle to make it a Default External Integration IDP.
  13. Click Save.

Follow the same steps to add more external integration.

Editing an External Integration

You are an administrator.

Conga recommends logging in using Conga IdP to make any changes to external integration.

This task guides you through the process of editing external integration settings, which is essential for maintaining accurate and up-to-date connections with external systems.

  2. Click the More () icon and select Edit.
  3. If:
    • Your OIDC IdP's External Organization ID is changed, you can click Authorize and login with your credentials to auto-populate the updated external organization ID of the selected identity provider.
