Redline Suggestions

When a user opens a received contract document in X-Author for Contracts Advanced and invokes Redline, the applicable auto-enabled playbook is identified based on the document's metadata. The agent then analyzes each clause in the document against the rules in that playbook.

For each clause where deviations or unfavorable conditions are detected, the agent generates a recommendation. Recommendations follow a surgical approach: only the specific sentences or values that need to change are marked, not the entire clause. This reflects standard legal practice, where reviewers make precise, focused edits rather than wholesale replacements.

For clause-level rules, users can apply recommendations directly from the Redline panel using the Apply button, which makes the suggested edit in the document. For document-level rules, recommendations are displayed as guidance text and users apply changes manually.

Users can also switch to a different available playbook or rerun specific rules if needed. Prior results are overwritten when a new execution is triggered.

For clauses sourced from the clause library, alternate clauses may be available alongside the standard clauses. If the standard clause is not suitable for a particular negotiation context, users can select an alternate clause to replace the deviating clause language.

Once Redline is configured, users can begin assessing counterparty risks directly in X-Author for Contracts. For more information, see Using Redline for Risk Assessment.
