Generating a Document Summary

  • The administrator has enabled Aime for Agreement objects in your permission group.
  • You have access to contract records.
  • Contract records have associated contract, supporting, or global documents.

Aime can summarize contract documents, supporting documents, global documents, and others, making it easier to review lengthy contracts in.docx, and .pdf file formats. You can use the Summary feature in Aime to generate summaries efficiently.

Limitation: You can only select one document at a time for summarization.

  1. Click the App Launcher icon () and select Contract Apps.
  2. Select a contract to display the Contract Details page.
  3. Click the Aime icon ().
This raises the Contract Documents window, displaying a list of contract documents, supporting documents, global documents, and other documents associated with the selected record.
  4. Select a document and click Start.
  5. Aime opens with the document details on the left and the "Get answers from this contract" window on the right:

Three buttons offer prompts pre-configured by Conga:
    • Summarize key terms: This inserts a verbose prompt directing the AI to generate a summary of the document. This prompt includes:
      • Parties involved (legal entity names, roles)

      • Agreement type (MSA, NDA, SOW, Order Form, Amendment, etc.)

      • Effective date and term/duration

      • Key commercial terms (pricing, payment terms, if visible)

      • Critical dates (expiration, renewal, notice deadlines)

      • Governing law and jurisdiction

      • High-level obligations of each party

    • Natural Language Q&A: This inserts a prompt that exemplifies the question format for a natural-language Q&A request ("What is the termination notice period?").

    • Clause & Term Extraction: This inserts a prompt that exemplifies queries about specific provisions extracted from the contract ("Does this contract have a force majeure clause?").

Clicking these injects the prompt into the AI chat box.
  6. In the Aime window, click the Summary icon ().

The DOCUMENT SUMMARY window opens showing the summary in two sections: contract summary section that highlights the key points related to the document and brief summary section that offers a concise overview of the contract.
