Task Management
Conga CLM leverages the Advantage Platform Tasks feature to introduce contextual, ad hoc task management directly within contract records. This capability enables legal, sales, procurement, and finance users to create, assign, track, and complete contract-related tasks within the CLM environment.
By deeply integrating platform-level task management with contract in CLM, Conga delivers a unified, structured approach to managing the unstructured work that naturally occurs throughout the contract lifecycle.
CLM integrates with this platform capability to:
- Embed task creation and visibility directly linked to a contract.
- Display contract-linked tasks contextually for legal and business users
- Define task trigger conditions based on CLM contract events while keeping the platform data model unchanged.
- Support contract-specific deferred task publishing (for example, publish on contract activation or send for review).
- Tasks are linked directly to contract records, ensuring users always understand why a task exists and what it relates to.
- Centralized visibility ensures no contract-related actions fall through the cracks during negotiation, approval, or execution.
- Tasks can be assigned to legal, sales, finance, procurement, or external-facing internal teams with full transparency.
- Users no longer need emails, spreadsheets, or personal reminders to manage contract work.
- Administrators and managers gain visibility into task progress, bottlenecks, and workload distribution across contracts.
Key Capabilities
-
Contextual Task Creation from CLM
Users can create tasks directly within a contract record. When a task is created:
- It is automatically linked to the relevant CLM record
- The system warns users if the assignee does not have access to the linked contract
- Tasks can be assigned to users or user groups
-
Task Types and Status Tracking
CLM supports the following types of tasks:
- Informational – Used for notifications and awareness
- Actionable – Used for tasks requiring execution
Task type determines which statuses are available, whether due dates or review steps apply, how and when tasks can be completed
-
Contract-Aware Deferred Tasks
CLM supports draft tasks that activate only when a contract reaches a specific state. For example, you can:Create a task in Draft status and define publish condition as Contract is Activated. The task is automatically published and the assignee is notified when the contract is activated.
Create a task in Draft status and define publish condition as Send for Review. The task is automatically published and the assignee is notified the first time the Send for Review event occurs for that contract after the task is created.
-
Task Visibility & Notifications
- All CLM-related tasks also appear in the centralized Tasks page, providing a single view of work across contracts.
- Assignees receive email notifications when tasks are assigned, published, updated, or due.
To know more about the platform-level behavior and configuration details, see Task Management in Conga Advantage Platform administration guide.

Audit Trail
Audit details for tasks are available through . This dashboard provides a centralized, read-only view of audited task actions, including the user who performed the action, the timestamp, and the before-and-after values for tracked fields.
Audit information for tasks is recorded when administrators enable audit tracking for the Task object through the platform-level audit configuration. Once enabled, key task lifecycle events such as task creation, updates, status changes, and assignment changes are automatically captured and displayed in the dashboard. To learn more about manual configuration of audit tracking, see Audit Tracking for Task Object section in Audit and Access Dashboard Configuration.
