Creating Composer API Templates
Composer API can make utilize templates in stored and created in Conga Drive. Conga Drive templates can now use the Merge Field Lookup, which allows your users to create robust and dynamic templates with Conga's easy-to-use user interface. Composer API supports templates using Word, Powerpoint, Excel, PDF or HTML Email formats.
From a Conga Drive Template record, you can open your template and select Merge Field Lookup from the dropdown. This will open the Merge Field Lookup interface and allow you to select your template document type and JSON Data Model. For details on uploading the JSON, refer to Conga Platform Data Models.
Note: Word, PowerPoint and HTML merge fields have the same required formatting. PDF and Excel each have unique field formatting.
Open your template document on your local machine. After you have selected an available JSON Data Model, the available merge fields will populate in the Field and Sample data section, where you can click the Copy button to copy the appropriate merge field syntax and paste it into the document. Save the document and upload or reupload the saved document to the Conga Drive Template record on the Advantage Platform. Once you have saved the template, use the Unique Identifier in the template URL to reference your template in your Composer API solutions.
