Getting Started - Clause Identification and Management

The Clause Identification and Management (CIM) feature provides users with a comparison match between the clause language in a document that is added to a Contract Profile and the Conga Contracts Model, which is the standard against which individual clauses in an uploaded document are measured.

The Clause Identification and Management (CIM) feature provides users with a comparison match between the clause language in a document they upload to a Contract Profile and the Conga Contracts Model, which is the standard against which individual clauses in an uploaded document are measured. CIM is also activated when a document is added to a Contract Profile from an approved contract request, a revision to an existing document is uploaded, or when a document is added after running the Creation Wizard, eSignature Package Wizard, or Document Package Wizard. CIM even runs when an existing document in a Contract Profile is edited and its document type is changed to a type that has been identified for clause analysis.

Users are able to "train" the Conga Contracts Model using the Document Clause Processing option, which is activated whenever a document is added to a Contract Profile and its document type is subject to CIM analysis. Document Clause Processing employs an interactive Document Clauses window that displays each clause in the document and a corresponding drop-down list with possible matches for the clause type. When a possible match is appended by a percentage (%), this signals a system match between the clause language in the document and the current Conga Contracts Model. If the user selects a clause type that includes a percentage, the percentage match for that clause will be increased in the Conga Contracts Model during the nightly batch process. However, if the user selects a clause type that does not include a percentage match, the language for this clause type will be used to train the Conga Contracts Model and be used in future clause processing.

The new Clauses link in the Contract Profile displays a Clauses screen where users can view a record of the clauses that were automatically processed by Conga Contracts, as well as those that were manually processed by users during Document Clause Processing. The Clauses screen not only displays the clause types that were "trained" during automatic and manual processing, but also indicates whether or not a trained clause is the "standard." The appearance of a number in the Clause Rev column for a standard clause shows how many other documents containing this same standard clause are present in your Conga Contracts database.

The Search & Report features can be used to identify and run reports on the clauses processed in the documents added to Contract Profiles. For example, you can run a report on documents using non-standard clauses, as well as a report that identifies all documents containing a specific clause.
