Running the Company Acquisition Wizard

The Acquisition Wizard is used when one company merges with, or is acquired by, another company. The wizard walks you through the process of combining the data records of the two companies, allowing you to select which information, as well as which contracts will be transferred to the acquiring company.

After running the Acquisition Wizard, the Company Profile of the acquiring company displays. The Wizard updates the status of the acquired company, and adds the name of the acquired company as an additional name (FKA) for the acquiring company.

  1. Open the Company Profile of the company being acquired.
  2. In the Company Profile screen, click Admin Tools in the toolbar, and select Merger/Acquisition.
  3. In the Company Acquisition Wizard, click Next in the Welcome step.
  4. In the Acquiring Company Selection step:
    • Click v in the Acquiring Company list, locate the acquiring company, and click on it to select it.
    • Click Next.
  5. In the Update Acquired Company Status step:
    • (Optional) Update the status of the company being acquired.
    • Click Next.
  6. In the Item Selection step:
    • Click inside the check box for each item that you want to transfer to the acquiring company.
    • To select all items, click in the Item check box at the top of the list. Items include all the stored information in the linked program screens, such as People, Events, Documents, Tasks, as well as any additional forms that can be added to the Company Profile.
    • Click Next.
  7. In the Contract Selection step:
    • Click inside the check box for each contract that you want to transfer to the acquiring company.
    • To select all contracts, click in the check box at the top of the list. Search for a contract by entering the first few characters of the contract number, or other identifier, in the Search field, and clicking the magnifying glass. Control the display of information for contracts by selecting the columns that display, sorting information, and resizing/repositioning columns of data.
    • Click Next.
  8. In the Company Acquisition Summary step, verify the information, and click Finish.
