Usecase: Reviewing Product Collateral as a Sales Representative

Associating collateral to the product is to provide seamless access to product collateral throughout the CPQ workflow. This enables sales representatives to view product details such as product specifications, pricing information, configuration details, and any additional information, without switching systems or contact support for basic product information. This behavior introduces friction in the sales process and increases support overhead. Providing contextual collateral where products are browsed and configured reduces these issues.

Scenario:

A sales representative is preparing a quote for a customer evaluating a complex product bundle. The customer needs to understand:

  • Product specifications and feature list.
  • Implementation or setup considerations.
  • Pricing-related notes or packaging constraints.
  • Links to demos or additional reference materials.
  1. From the product catalog or the product configuration page, select the product.

Depending on how the CPQ administrator configured the product, sales representative can see some or all of the following types of collateral:

    • Documentation links for product overviews, feature descriptions, or setup guides.
    • Specification files that describe technical or functional details of the product.
    • Pricing information or guidance related to the product.
    • Demo or marketing collateral, such as videos or presentations.
  2. Click the collateral icon or link to open the collateral section. Use the one-click actions (open link, download file, or copy to clipboard) to review the information required before you complete the configuration and generate the quote.
Sales representatives review the relevant collateral in the CPQ runtime and complete the product configuration with accurate information. You can then finalize and generate the quote without leaving the CPQ workflow or requesting external support for basic product details.
If Sales representatives cannot see expected collateral, contact your administrator to confirm that the collateral is associated with the product and that your permissions allow you to access it.
