Use Insights to cut to the chase: Assess a contract’s risk and get the answers to questions you’ll always want to know.
Assessing Risk with Insights
You can use Discovery Agent not only to read and extract documents, but also to analyze those documents for risk and to receive suggestions for mitigating such risks.
Use Case: An in-house counsel at a regional bank opens a $4.2M vendor services agreement for review. The standard review would take two hours. Instead, she opens the Insights tab, where the AI has already flagged three high-risk items: an uncapped liability clause, a non-standard auto-renewal term, and a governing-law clause that assigns jurisdiction to an unfavorable state. Addressing these three items in 20 minutes, she saves 100 minutes that she would have spent finding and addressing these in unguided reading.
As a reviewer, you can use the Insights feature to assess contracts for predefined risks. To do this:
Click the Risk AI tab at top right, exposing Insights’ risk assessment.
Note:
The AI performs the assessment for a document when you open the Insights (Risk AI) tab the first time for that document. For larger documents with more identified fields, this may take longer.
For each identified risk, you can click the More icon () to view risk details, resolve, or delete the risk:
Clicking View Risk Details exposes the particulars of the risk.
The AI reviews provisions based on predefined risk scores. It identifies overall risk and individual risk factors.
Insights identifies the risk and its severity, indicates which criteria were violated and how, and offers guidance for mitigating the risk.
Your administrator may have configured Insights to use generative AI to review risks based on natural-language prompts and to generate its own natural-language outputs. If so, the Insights panel may offer less rigid, more colloquial prompts. These may change subtly over time.
With or without generative AI, your task and options remain the same.
You can reassign the Risk Scale value directly, or mark the risk as Resolved. Marking the risk as resolved sets its risk score value to zero. You can also delete the identified risk.
Viewing Questions with Insights
Administrators can pre-configure commonly asked questions to display in the Insights tab of selected documents. You can view these questions and their generated answers while reviewing imported documents.
Use case: A reviewer at a nonprofit foundation reviewing a newly extracted grant agreement wants a fast answer to two questions the Discovery Agent administrator has pre-configured for every contract of this type: “What is the total grant amount?” and “Does this agreement include a clawback provision?” Rather than reading the entire agreement to find these details, the reviewer opens the document from the home screen, clicks Insights > Questions, where both answers are already generated and waiting: $250,000 for the grant amount and a Yes for the clawback question. The reviewer can check the AI-generated answers against the contract text and continue the review.
The same pre-configured question set applies uniformly to every document using this worksheet, giving every reviewer instant answers to the same standard questions without any setup of their own.
From the home screen, click the name of an uploaded document.
Click the Insights tab.
