Managing Translations
Translations
The translations tab of each website component allows you to translate the labels, dialog prompts, and action labels. Translations can be done directly in the Collaboration Portal Designer interface or they can be managed with an Excel file that is exported, translated, then imported.
The left pane contains each website component and its subsequent website page elements available for translation. The translated text is entered in the window on the right.
Definitions:
- Fallback locale = The translation text that will be applied on the website if the browser locale cannot be detected or is unknown
- Destination locale = The translations that will be applied if the browser locale matches this locale. If there is no match, then the website will translate text in the fallback locale

Component Translations
The left pane under the Design section contains each website component where you can specify the translations on the Translations tab on the right. The Destination locale drives the language used to display Page elements, Titles, Button labels, Columns, Headers, and Dialog titles. You can either select locales or add new ones.
To update translations for each page element:
- Select the Component you want to update translations for
- Click on the Translation tab on the right
- Click the drop-down menu under Destination Locale column
- Select the locale you want to use for all the translation strings
- If the locale you wish to use is not available, click Create locale and specify the Language and Country. Click Save.
The translations on this page apply to the login page when users access the Collaboration Portal via a direct link.
QUOTE
The translations in the Quote component apply to the Quote View page or Cart view which displays all the products in the quote and the Quote Summary Details widget.
CATALOG
The translations in the Catalog component apply to the web product catalog browsing view and the Search user interface when you click Add Item to browse the product catalog.
Import/Export
Translations can be managed outside of the application using the import/export function. This allows you to export all terms that need to be translated into an Excel file. The file can then be translated outside of the application, then imported.
The Excel file contains one tab per locale (defined in Managing Translations, display locale) and 4 columns:
- Name - name of the element to translate
- Fallback Locale - locale used in the application as Quote Display Locale
- Destination Locale - the translated text to be stored
In order to be able to import translations, the same format must be used.
Translation From the User Interface
The left pane allows you to navigate between categories. Select the destination locale and enter the translation for this locale.
Creating a Destination Locale
In this section, you can define which data locales are displayed on the collaboration portal website. The Destination locale corresponds to the locale (language) detected by the collaboration portal user interface at runtime and your browser locale. From the dropdown list, you can select which locales are supported and you can add a new one by clicking on Create locale.
When you click on Create locale, you must define a language and a region.
Then, you can choose which locale will be used by default in your collaboration portal model.
