Controlling the Structure

The structure that has been elaborated using the “Structure” is a fixed structure, meaning that every business property is always present and always required. The “Controls” step is used to dynamically control aspects of this structure, in order to specialize it for certain circumstances.

Reference: For more information about controlling the structure, please refer to Controlling the Structure – Concept.

The following attributes are available in the step “Control”:

FIELDREQUIREDDESCRIPTION
ExistsYesDetermines whether the business property always exists or only in some circumstances. Can be defined by a fixed value, or by a BRC.
VisibleYesA business property is always visible. This field cannot be updated.
RequiredYesDetermines whether or not the business property is required. It can only be defined by a fixed value.
UpdatableYesA business property is always updateable – except in the event that it is calculated. This field cannot be updated.
ComputedYesDetermines whether or not the business property is calculated. It can only be defined by a fixed value.
Warning: The flag “immediate propagation” is not available for business properties because it is automatically determined:

For calculated business properties, it is set to “false”.

  • For optional user-answered business properties, it is set to “true”.
  • For required user-answered business properties, it is set to “false”.

The following attributes are only available for list-based business properties:

FIELDREQUIREDDESCRIPTION
Min nbr of choicesNoDetermines the minimum number of choices to be made in a multiplechoice list. This attribute can be given by a fixed value only.
Max nbr of choicesNoDetermines the maximum number of choices to be made in a multiplechoice list. This attribute can be given by a fixed value only.
information: The BRC defining the Business Property controls are only used to guide the (modeling) user when defining the product characteristics during catalog set-up.
