Mobility

Use Smart CPQ on Mobile Devices

SUPPORTED MOBILE DEVICES

When referring to mobility, we usually differentiate two types of devices:

  • Smartphones
  • Tablets

In general, it is not recommended to use CPQ on a phone as the form factor does not lend itself well to a quote manipulation experience. Therefore, smartphones are not officially supported by PROS as of today.

When it comes to tablets, Smart CPQ is based on a responsive design that adapts itself to tablet screens by providing a good user experience. The use of Smart CPQ within Dynamics is thus supported on tablets following the conditions described in the following chapters and in the Technical Requirements.

WEB BROWSERS

It is possible to access Smart CPQ from MSCRM in a browser on tablets, both on IOS and Android (see Technical Requirements for supported versions). In that case, Smart CPQ is opened in a frame contained within MSCRM, similarly to the laptop/desktop integration.

Here is an example of Smart CPQ integrated within MSCRM and accessed from Safari on an IPad:

Note: The default browser settings in certain mobile browsers may need to be tailored to accommodate the network communication between the tablet browser, CPQ, and MSCRM.

For instance, the Safari browser prevents the cross site tracking by default, thus preventing Smart CPQ to run by default.

The solution consists in following the steps below:

  1. On iOS device open Settings
  2. Find on open Safari settings
  3. Disable the Prevent Cross-Site Tracking

Similarly, depending on the version of Google Chrome you are using, you may have to apply a similar setup than above for Smart CPQ to run within MSCRM.

Please consult the documentation of the mobile browser for the tablet you are using for more details.

DYNAMICS 365 APP

Smart CPQ does not currently support the Dynamics 365 Sales App or Power Apps Mobile App on any device. Conga is awaiting a feature from Microsoft to enable single sign on such that Smart CPQ can communicate with the CRM through a service account. Conga's goal is to support this, but any Conga timeline would be dependent on the Microsoft timeline which is still undefined.
