Proposal Tab

Overview

In addition to the ‘Overview’ and ‘Content’ tabs described in this document, a ‘Proposal’ tab can also be configured. Its purpose is to redirect the user to a proposal page in CPQ. This page will behave like a proposal step in the process bar of a PROS quote.

Within this interface, you can generate a proposal from the configured user prompts and attach it to the quote in Force.com:

How to Activate the Proposal Tab in Force.com

In order to activate the ‘Proposal’ tab, you have to modify a specific custom setting. Navigate as follow:

  • Click on Setup
  • Click on Develop in “App Setup”
  • Click on Custom Settings
  • Click on Manage for the “PROS CPQ settings” set
  • [From the Custom Settings]
    • If the “CPQ Proposal UI layout” setting is empty, the ‘ Proposal’ tab will not be displayed
    • If you want to activate the ‘ Proposal’ tab, specify the name of a theme for the CPQ Proposal interface, for instance:

UNDERSTANDING THE COMMUNICATION FROM OVERVIEW TO PROPOSAL TAB – MAPPING IN

When switching from the Overview tab to the Proposal tab, the CPQ webservice is called and initialized with the values of the PROS Quote object but also of some values from the quote linked entities.

For more details on the mapping IN mechanism, please refer to the CPQ content parameterization chapter.

UNDERSTANDING THE COMMUNICATION FROM PROPOSAL TO OVERVIEW OR CONTENT TAB – MAPPING OUT

In the Proposal tab, when the user clicks on the Synchronize and Back to Overview action or when he clicks on the Overview tab, the PROS Quote entity is updated with regards to the following

mapping mechanism.

The Synchronize action called when clicking on the Overview tab can be parameterized in the custom settings. It corresponds to the Synchronize action.

The Synchronize action called when clicking on the Synchronize and Back to Overview action is parameterized in the CPQ Layout file. In both case the actions should be the same.

The synchronization mechanism is the same when passing from the Proposal tab to the Content tab or from the Content tab to the Proposal tab. As the ‘Proposal’ step of the quotation process is handled in the ‘Proposal’ tab, the proposal step can be removed from the process bar in the ‘Content’ tab.

Note: For more details on the mapping OUT mechanism, please refer to the CPQ content parameterization (basic) page.
