Attach Files
Smart Document allows you to attach files in the generated document in Word format. To do so, the user will use the Add Attach Document function. Once added the tag can be edited in different ways.

The structure for the usage of Attach Files is as follow:
The reference link between the Master template and the external files will always be dynamic based on a quote variable.
Before Getting Started
It's important to know that:
- The Attach Document function can only be used when the Generated document format is Word.
- The format of the external resources attached in the generated document can be:
- DOC
- DOCX
- XLS
- XLSX
- CSV
- ZIP
- PPT
- MPP
- JPG
- PNG
- SVG
- MP3
- MP4
- The type of the fields and columns used to attach external files must be URL.
- Attach Document can be used in iterations and sub-templates.
How to Insert a Attach Document Tag
The insertion of the Attach Document tag is done in a new paragraph after the cursor position.
- Place the cursor in the Word document where the file attachment should be inserted. In the add-in on the Home tab, click on the + next to the Attach Document menu.
- Select a tag from the list where the URL pointing to the file to attach will be filled in the quote.
Useful Tip: Type text in the drop-down lists to filter the results.
Important Note: If no tag is appearing in the list, check the quote model and ensure that the field / column is a URL type of data.
- Click on ADD TAG.Note: You can rename the tag in the Tag field (except the fixed “#Type_ID_” section).
- The tag appears in the Word document. The add-in displays the edit mode for the Attach Document.
How to Edit a Attach Document Tag
To edit a Attach Document the cursor must be positioned on the tag in the Word part of the document.
In the add-in the user must click on the edit button as below:
The Edit attached document allows to modify:
- Tag name
- Source data tag
Once the edits have been made the user must click on the button to save the changes. If the
user needs to cancel and not save the changes, they must click on .
How to Delete a Attach Document Tag
To delete a Attach Document tag you can:
- Delete the tag on the Word document side.
- Click on the delete button in the Edit attached document panel
