Template validation
The validation center tab is the place where the template errors will appear. The validation process is continuous and do not need any user interaction. It verifies if each tag is correctly formatted, have valid meta-data and match all the rules described in this document.
A red notification badge will appear next to the Validation Center icon when errors are detected, including the number of errors detected. When the Validation Center tab is opened, a list of all errors will be displayed to the user. This allows the user to fix problems along the way. The user can
The errors that the validation will catch are:
- Invalid data source
- Tag duplicates
- Metadata
- Worksheet Context
- Hierarchy
Invalid Data Source
Ex: Change of the datasource JSON. If a new Data Model is uploaded and the component is changed, the Validation Center will display the tags that no longer have a valid data source
Tag duplicates
Ex: Duplicate field tag after copying and pasting.
In this case the tool prompts the user to fix the related error.
HANDLING TAGS COPY/PASTE ACTIONS
If a user copies and pastes a part of the document which contains tags, they must use the Fix Error function available in the Validation Center. This function will remove the duplicate tag from the Excel.
Tag position mismatch
Ex: a tag has been moved from its original place.
Metadata
Ex: moving or creating a tag without using the Add-in
When a tag is created incorrectly, it will not have the required metadata. The validation center will notify the user of this and request that the user delete the tag and recreate it properly with the Add-in.
