Creating a Test Step
- On the Test Author home page, do one of the following:
- To use Conga API templates, click Conga API Templates in the right or left pane.
- To use customized API templates, do one of the following:
- Click API Templates in the right pane.
- Go to Design > API Templates in the left pane.
- In the API template row for which you want to create a test step, do one of the following:
- Click Create Test Step in Action column.
- Click the name > Create Test Step.
- Enter the following details.
Field name
Description
Test Step Name
Enter a name for the test step. Variation specific names must be used. For example: 'Create Standalone Product' or 'Get Product Details Include Categories'.
Request Type
Is auto-populated from the API template.
Resource URL
Is auto-populated from the API template.
Service
Is auto-populated from the API template.
Feature
Is auto-populated from the API template.
Active
Toggle to switch on or off. A test step must be in Active or On state to participate in test case execution.
Description
Add a user-friendly description.
Is Non Conga API
Is auto-populated from the API template.
Base URL to use
Is auto-populated from the API template and is used for Conga API test step. You can modify the same if required.
Environment Variable having Base URL
Is auto-populated from the API template and is used for Non Conga API test step. You can modify the same if required.
Meta Data
All the data is auto-populated from the API template. You can modify if required.
Click + to add another row and select the appropriate metadata.
Click the bin to delete a row.
Click the eraser to clear the metadata values while editing.
Request Body
Request Body Type
Is auto-populated from the API template. Can be modified.
Response Type Is auto-populated from teh API template. Can be modified. Request Payload
Is auto-populated from the API template. Can be modified. For form-data type, you can browse to your local folder and upload a file or select a file that is already uploaded to File Store. You can upload one or more files. For more information see, Using File Store.
- Click Save.
