Post Installation/Upgrade Tasks

After installing or upgrading X-Author for Excel, you must complete the following tasks before you start working with X-Author for Excel.

  1. Setting up Permission Sets: Based on your requirement, you must set up Permission Sets for Designer and Runtime users. After permission sets are created, you must assign the permission sets to users for accessing Apps.
    Note:

    It is recommended to use a single permission set approach.

  2. Migrating Apps: X-Author for Excel Designer has built-in capability for migrating apps. For detailed information, see Importing and Exporting an Application.
  3. Assigning Licenses (Production only): X-Author for Excel license is controlled by the Salesforce License Management App. For details, see License Information.
    • Runtime users need to be assigned X-Author for Excel license in Production.
    • Designer users will need to be assigned both X-Author for Excel and X-Author Designer for Excel licenses in Production.
  4. Assigning Apps (Production only): X-Author for Excel App has additional security that authenticates runtime users and profiles to access designated Apps. For detailed instructions on assigning Apps, see Assigning Apps to Runtime Users. You may also use the user assignment app to assign App access in bulk.
  5. Enable the Licences in Salesforce: After you install the X-Author for Excel Salesforce packages, you must send your Org ID to Conga. By default, when X-Author for Excel is installed, the lowest level of license is provisioned. After Conga has upgraded functionality in your environments, take the following steps to enable X-Author functionality according to your license:
    1. Log in to Salesforce.
    2. Click on the Conga X-Author for Excel tab.
    3. Click Refresh License.
