New Features

The following features are new to CPQ in this release.

One Click Maintenance Jobs

Maintenance jobs are enhanced to run in a much faster mode, thus reducing the need for application downtime for most scenarios. You can run all the maintenance jobs with one click in fast mode from the Maintenance Console. Category maintenance has fast mode enabled but is not Maintenance Console integrated with the Maintenance Console for one click update.

Improvements to the Angular.js-based CPQ User Interface

The CPQ February 2016 version has the following enhancements to the Angular.js user interface.
Product description and product image on the Rule Prompt
Constraint rule prompt now shows the appropriate product image and product description in the constraint rule message dialog box. The Constraint dialog box shows Product Icon and Product Name by default. To add product description in the dialog box, set Config. Settings > Catalog Page Settings > Listed Products Column2 to Description.
Product Feature Comparison
The product feature allows you to select two or more products and compare the Product Features between them before making the selection on the Catalog page.
Price Ramps on the Cart
Price Ramps are enhanced pricing methods for service or subscription based industry. As an administrator, you must enable price ramps from the price list item details page. Once you enable price ramps, an end user can create a price ramp for a product to spread pricing across time periods.
Usage Tiers on the Cart
Price Tiers enable an end user to view or set up tiers on the configuration page and the pricing cart page. This ensures there are pricing settings (product line item) that determine whether the tiers can be modifiable or just viewable on the configuration page and the pricing cart page.
Guided Selling
Guided Selling is a process that helps a sales representative to choose the product best fulfilling a customer's needs. The Guided Selling link is available on the catalog page for respective categories.
Recommended Products
Now, click the Recommended Products icon on the top right of the Cart page to view the list of Recommended Products.
Hiding Single Top Category on the Catalog
When you have a single root category and want to have a cleaner look of all its child categories, without the root category, use this custom setting Hide Single Top Category.
Product Configuration page displays the Required Options
Now, when you configure a product, the Product Configuration page displays the Required Options and the associated Option Groups with the following indications:

  • Required - in the tab view.
  • Red Asterisk - on the right-hand side of the Summary section.
  • Red Asterisk - on the left side of the page.

The Review and Finalize button on the Cart page keep you on the same page without finalizing the configuration. This feature has been deprecated from February 2016 release.

Attribute-Based Configuration Enhancements

The CPQ February 2016 version has the following enhancements to attribute-based configuration.

  • Ability to type-ahead in the Product Attribute Rule while configuring product attribute rule. You can now type in the Field under Criteria section and in the Target Attribute under Action section to display a list of applicable fields or attributes, instead of selecting from a pick-list.
  • Support for unlimited attributes (for Angular.js user interface only). Now, the system has been enhanced to create and configure unlimited number of attributes, overcoming the 800 record limit of Salesforce. The additional attributes can be used for Product Definitions, Product Configurations and Attribute based Rules.

Asset-Based Ordering Enhancements
