Getting Started

You can create a quote using the Conga Quote Generation app in Salesforce by taking the following steps:

  1. After successful installation, navigate to the Conga Composer application.
  2. Click the Conga Quick Start tab.
  3. Select Document Automation Wizard.
  4. Follow the six steps in the wizard to complete your solution.

Document Automation Wizard

The Document Automation Wizard easily guides you through the steps to configure a simple solution.

1. Add Details

In this step of the Document Automation Wizard, begin creating your solution by adding important details such as creating a solution name, selecting a sample record pre-selected from the SBQQ Quote Master Object, and adding an option description summary.

To add details:

  1. In the Add Details tab, under the Add Solution Details section, enter a Solution Name.
  2. Select a sample Quote record, and add an optional description.
  3. Click Create.

2. Gather Data

In this step of the Document Automation Wizard, gather data for your solution. All Quote Master Object and Quote Line data is returned for you, so you can skip this section if you don't need additional data and go directly to Add Templates.

To gather data, select Create New Query to add extra data queries to add to the solution.

3. Add Templates

In this step of the Document Automation Wizard, create or add Word document templates with merge fields that populate data from the Salesforce Quote object fields you select.

To add templates:

  1. In the Add Templates tab, under the Add Templates to a Solution section, select Create New Template or Upload New Template.
  2. Enter a Name for the template.
  3. Enter an optional Template Group and/or optional brief Description.
  4. Under Attachments or Drop Files, select the template you created in Template Builder.
  5. Click Add Template.
  6. Click Add to Solution.

To create a new template:

  1. In the Template Builder, you can search or select Quote object merge fields to include in the Word document. For example, enter Today in Search Quote fields and click on the clipboard icon on the right of the search result to Copy to Clipboard.
  2. Paste this copied merge field into your Word document. The result will display as follows: {{Today}}. When you run the solution, today's date is inserted into this merge field in your Word document.
  3. Repeat the above step until all the merge fields in your Word document are complete.
  4. Click Done to return to the Add Templates tab in the Document Automation Wizard.

4. Assign Behaviors

In this step of the Document Automation Wizard, assign behaviors to your solution such as generate a PDF file of the quote, or add eSignature capability. To see a list of available behaviors, see the Conga Quote Generation parameters.

To assign behaviors:

  1. Under Behavior Settings, select the behaviors you want to add for your solution. Click on the options listed to display more options for that behavior on the left.
