Conga Sign provides many standard fields to add to documents when sending documents for eSignature. Standard fields are common to most businesses, but every business is unique, and you may want to capture important information that's not covered by a standard field. Custom fields are the way to do this. As an administrator, you can create custom fields for your organization. Users can add those custom fields to documents when sending document for eSignature. For example, a signer may have a registration ID, and that ID may need to appear in the final document next to their signature. You can create a Registration ID custom field with a default value and that value will be auto-populated in the document.

To create custom fields

  1. Click the app launcher () and select Document Management Apps.
  2. In the left panel, click Platform Administration > Conga Sign Settings > Custom Fields.
  3. Click Create New Field. This opens the Create New Custom Field dialog box.
  4. In the Field Parameters section:
    1. Enter a value for field ID. You cannot enter a space in the field ID. This ID will not be visible to senders.
    2. Enter a default value for the field. This value is optional and can be changed by the signer in their account profile.
    3. If the custom field is not required for users setting up their account profiles, toggle the Required button off.
  5. In the Field Localization section:
    1. Select a language from the dropdown list.
    2. Enter the field name for the selected language. This is the field name as it appears in your user's account profile and on transactions in which they participate.
    3. Provide a description for the custom field.
  6. Click Save.

As a best practice, every custom field you need should be replicated for every language supported in your account. The system only displays the custom field in the language selected by the active user. If a custom field is not mapped to a language, it defaults to English, regardless of the language the active user selected.
