Highlighting Smart and Read-Only Fields

The highlight fields feature lets you highlight smart and read-only fields in your agreement document.

Prerequisites

The admin entry APTS_HighlightFieldsUsingControlPanel must be set to true in Conga CLM to view this option in the X-Author for Contracts work tab. For more information, see Conga CLM Admin Entries.

To highlight smart and read-only fields

  1. Open Microsoft Word and launch the add-in.
  2. Log in to X-Author for Contracts Advanced.
  3. In the Contracts pane, go to Work > Highlight Fields. If you do not see Highlight Fields under the Work tab, click the More button () and from the menu, select Highlight Fields.

Smart fields are highlighted in green and read-only fields are highlighted in yellow. Field highlighting is not retained when you check the document in, send the document for review, or close Microsoft Word.

To remove highlighting for smart and read-only fields

  1. Open Microsoft Word and launch the add-in.
  2. Log in to X-Author for Contracts Advanced.
  3. In the Contracts pane, go to Work > Unhighlight Fields. If you do not see Unhighlight Fields under the Work tab, click the More button () and from the menu, select Unhighlight Fields.
    Note:

    Mark Field and Highlighting

If Highlight Fields is already selected in the Work menu and you mark a text in the agreement document as a smart field (using the "Mark Field" option), the marked field is not automatically highlighted. Click Unhighlight Fields and Highlight Fields in the Work menu to highlight the new field.

Behavior and Limitation

Due to a Microsoft Word limitation, clicking the Highlight option triple-highlights the smart and read-only fields when you apply Insert Comments and Track Changes protection while generating a document.
