Using Clause Library for Template

Note:

Clause Library is a library of clauses, or clause templates, that each contains modular blocks of contractual language that can be reused across multiple agreement templates. Clause Library helps you to search for clauses or supporting documents that can be inserted into the template as inline text.

Note:

You cannot use the Clause Library to insert clauses unless the template you are working with has already been checked in at least once. If you are in the process of creating a new template, check in the template and open it again to start using Clause Library. Clauses are not supported in headers and footers in templates

To insert a clause from Clause Library into a template

  1. Open Microsoft Word and log in to X-Author for Contracts.
  2. In the Contracts pane, click the Home button () and select Templates.
  3. In the Templates pane, go to Work > Clause Library. The list of all the available clauses is displayed. To view the complete clause name, either hover the mouse over the clause name or expand the X-Author window.
  4. You can use the Search by Clause Name box to search a clause by keyword. Click the Filter button () to view the drop-down menus that can help you to refine your search according to Type, Category, Subcategory, Locale, and Language.
    Note:

    You can configure custom locales in Conga CLM. For more information, see Adding Custom Locale in CLM for Administrators.

  5. To search using the advanced filters option, click the Advance Search Filters button () next to the Filter button. The Advance Search Filters dialog box opens.
  6. Select the specific field, an operator to apply to the field, and a value to search for.
  7. Click Add Row to add search fields. Click the Delete button to remove any field that you have already entered.
  8. After entering all the filed search criteria, click Apply Filters to search. The clauses that match your search criteria are displayed.
  9. Place the cursor in the section of the template where you will insert a clause.
  10. Click a clause from the list to view the clause text and active version. To insert the clause into your template as inline text, click the Expand button () next to the clause name and click Insert this Clause.

    When the clause is inserted, a success message is displayed. The clause content is marked by a content control boundary in your template.

Note:
  • When you insert a clause using the Insert this Clause option, the clause takes the format of the document. For example, if you insert a plain text clause inside a bulleted list, the clause takes the bulleted list format.
  • You cannot search and insert an alternate clause from the Clause Library.
  • After you insert a clause into a template, you cannot edit text, insert or mark a field, or mark segments within the clause.
  • You can cut and paste clauses within a template, with the following limitations:
    • Clauses containing smart fields are not supported
    • Agreement documents you have downloaded and then checked-out are not supported

To insert a clause with formatting from Clause Library into a template

  1. Open Microsoft Word and log in to X-Author for Contracts.
  2. In the Contracts pane, click the Home button () and select Templates.
  3. In the Templates pane, go to Work > Clause Library. The list of all the available clauses is displayed. To view the complete clause name, either hover the mouse over the clause name or expand the X-Author window.
  4. You can use the Search by Clause Name box to search a clause by keyword. Click the Filter button () to view the drop-down menus that can help you to refine your search according to Type, Category, Subcategory, Locale, and Language.
  5. Place the cursor in the section of the template where you want to insert a clause.
  6. Click a clause from the list to view the clause text and active version. To insert the clause, click the Expand icon next to the clause name and click Insert Clause Formatting.

    You see a success message on inserting a clause. The clause content is marked by a content control boundary in your template.

Note:
  • When you insert a clause using the Insert Clause Formatting option, the clause retains its format. For example, if you are inserting a plain text clause inside a bulleted list, the clause is inserted as plain text. There is no bulleted style applied to it.
  • After you insert a clause into a template, you cannot edit text, insert or mark a field, or mark segments within the clause.
  • Older templates with clauses inserted from the Clause Library will still allow edits. Restriction of edit actions on inserted clauses applies only to clauses inserted after the October'23 release.

To delete a clause

Select the clause text in the template and press Delete on your keyboard. The selected clause text is deleted from the template.
