Smart fields, smart clauses, read-only fields, and read-only clauses in an agreement document are represented in Microsoft Word with content control, that is with a bounding box. You can control the visibility of bounding boxes using the Hide Smart Boundary and Show Smart Boundary options. The Hide Smart Boundary and Show Smart Boundary options are visible based on the Hide Content Control Border custom setting in the Conga CLM. Your administrator can configure the custom setting. For more information on configuring custom settings, see Comply System Properties topic in CLM for Administrators. The following table provides the details about which option is displayed based on the Hide Content Control Border custom setting:

Prerequisite

Ensure that the checked-out document contains read-only fields, read-only clauses, smart fields, or smart clauses.

To hide smart boundaries in an agreement document

  1. Open Microsoft Word and launch the add-in.
  2. Log in to X-Author for Contracts.

  3. In the Contracts pane, go to Work tab and click the More icon ().
  4. Click Hide Smart Boundary.
    This hides all the smart boundaries.

    Regardless of the Hide/Show Boundary option selected before checking in, the boundaries are displayed after checking out the document.

To see smart boundaries in an agreement document

  1. Open Microsoft Word and launch the add-in.
  2. Log in to X-Author for Contracts.

  3. In the Contracts pane, go to Work tab and click the More icon ().
  4. Click Show Smart Boundary.
    This shows all the smart boundaries.
