Conga Quote Agent

Conga Quote Agent is an intelligent, conversational AI assistant embedded in the Salesforce platform as part of Conga CPQ. It allows sales representatives to quote, price, configure, approve, and publish using natural language prompts instead of navigating traditional UI screens.

Conga Quote Agent recognizes the user's current Salesforce context (such as the opportunity or account being viewed) and applies relevant defaults, permissions, and business rules to streamline operations.

Key Capabilities

Conga Quote Agent invokes the Conga Quote Agent skill to support the following functional areas:

  • Quote Management: Create, retrieve, update, clone, search, compare, and reprice quotes through conversational commands. Conga Quote Agent respects administrator-configured field schemas, user permissions, record types, and status-based editability rules.
  • Cart and Line Item Operations: Add products or favorites to a cart, view cart summaries, retrieve line item details, and update line item fields. Conga Quote Agent uses administrator-defined display settings and flow-level configurations.
  • Product and Favorites Catalog: Search for products and favorites available for quoting, view detailed product and favorite information, and compare multiple products or favorites side by side using admin-configured comparison settings.
  • Approval Workflow: Preview required approvals before submission, submit quotes for approval, and finalize the cart when no approval is needed.
  • Asset Management: Search for existing assets and renew assets based on asset end date and frequency.
  • Document Generation: Generate quote documents by selecting from available templates and output formats.
Note:
  • Rule and Expression Evaluation
    • Agentforce does not support rule and expression evaluation. To ensure accurate results, launch the cart and complete all required evaluations before finalizing the cart through Conga Quote Agent.
  • Concurrent Cart Access
    • Don't access or modify a cart through the UI while Conga Quote Agent is configuring it. Concurrent updates can lead to conflicts or inconsistent cart states.
  • Quote vs. Cart Context
    • Clearly define and maintain the distinction between a quote and a cart in your instructions and prompt configuration.
  • Action Chaining Across Topics
    • Chaining agent actions across different topics is a current Salesforce platform limitation. If your business process requires multiple actions to be executed together, you must configure those actions within the same topic. For example, you cannot chain the Add Product action with the Reprice Cart action if they belong to different topics.

How the Conga Quote Agent Works

The Conga Quote Agent operates on an action-based architecture. Each capability is implemented as a discrete action that the agent invokes based on the user's natural-language intention. For example:

  • When a user says "Create a new quote for the ACME Q3 Renewal opportunity", the Conga Quote Agent invokes the CreateQuote Tool, first calling GetQuoteSchema to determine required fields and then creating the quote with contextual defaults.
  • When a user says "Compare quotes Q-00000283 and Q-00000601", the Conga Quote Agent invokes the CompareQuotes Tool to present a side-by-side analysis.
  • When a user says "Reprice quote Q-456 with current rates", the Conga Quote Agent invokes the RepriceQuote Tool to recalculate pricing using the latest rules and rates.

Conga Quote Agent automatically resolves the Salesforce context (the opportunity, account, or quote being viewed), applies permission-based field filtering, and handles error scenarios such as records not found, insufficient access, or restricted operations.

Administrator Configuration

Conga Quote Agent presents users with a uniform interface that permits the application of Skills. Administrators control the Skill behavior invoked In the CPQ context, Conga Quote Agent, using configuration settings that determine:

  • Which fields are readable and modifiable by Conga Quote Agent, and under which criteria (user profile, record type, status, business unit).
  • Default fields displayed in conversational responses (up to five most-relevant fields per interaction).
  • Field priority and visibility rules using Salesforce field sets, permission sets, and validation rules.
  • When to redirect users to the full Salesforce UI for operations that exceed chat capabilities.
  • Product and favorite search behavior, including default price list settings.
  • Cart summary display configuration, covering cart, line item, summary group, product attribute, and child record data.
