The Contract Agreement object is a new, custom object in the Contracts for Salesforce managed package. It is designed to be a standardized place for customers to manage and negotiate their Contracts, containing all customizations that have previously been included on the standard Salesforce Contract object in the Contracts for Salesforce managed package while requiring less manual configuration. For these reasons, we highly recommend using this object instead of the standard Salesforce Contract object. If you currently manage and negotiate Contracts using the Contract object, your solutions will continue to work as designed.

The customizations included on the Contract Agreement object include:

  • The View Redlines, Select Clause Bundle, Select Primary Document, and Send for Negotiation buttons.

  • A Contract Agreement Activity Lightning Component

    My Domain must be enabled in your Org to access this feature.

  • A Contract Agreement Family Viewer  displays a hierarchy of related Contract Agreements

  • A Contract Agreement Status bar displays and allows users to change the value in the Status field on the Contract Agreement object.

    • This status bar is built as a Salesforce Path, so Paths must be enabled to access this feature. This is done by going to Salesforce Setup Path Settings and clicking Enable.
    • Because it is created as a path, this feature is only available in Salesforce’s Lightning experience. We also provide this status bar as a Visualforce page for customers who use Classic experience, although this Visualforce page has more limited functionality.
  • A Contract Agreement sync status widget is intended for customers who sync their Contract Agreement data to external systems, and must be added to the Contract Agreement page layout manually.

  • Several fields designed to facilitate Contract Management and Negotiation, as well for syncing data to the external Conga Contracts system.

    The addition of these fields is meant to prevent customers from needing to install the Conga Contracts Quickstart.

The Contract Agreement object is included upon install. To grant users access to this object, assign the users the Conga CLM and the Conga Redlining permission sets. Additional configuration for the Contract Agreement object can be completed in the Contracts Setup tab, or directly in Salesforce Setup.

How to Create a Contract Agreement

  1. From the Salesforce menu, open the Conga Contracts app.
  2. Click the Contract Agreements tab.
  3. Click New.

How to Update the Contract Agreement Status Field

As of Conga Contracts version 2.90, new values were added to the Contract Agreement Status field.

Customers upgrading from a version of Contracts for Salesforce previous to 2.90 must add these values in Object Manager for them to display as available options. These values must be added for certain Contracts for Salesforce features, such as Cycle Time Reporting, to work as expected. 

To add these options, take the following steps:

  1. In Salesforce Setup, go to Object Manager.
  2. Click Contract Agreement. 
  3. Under the Fields and Relationships tab, click Status. 
  4. Navigate to the Values List section and add the following values:
    • Requested
    • Drafting
    • Negotiating
    • Approving
    • In Signatures
  5. Click Save. 

About the Contract Collaborators Object

Contract Collaborators is another custom object in the Contracts for Salesforce Managed Package. The purpose of this object is to store information about a person who is assigned a certain role in the execution of a Contract Agreement, creating a Contract team for the execution of a particular Contract Agreement record. Contract Collaborators is related to an individual Contract Agreement, and can then be assigned to one Contact or one User in your Salesforce Org. It cannot be assigned to both a Contact and a User. It is designed as a junction object between Contract Agreement and User, or Contract Agreement and Contact.

To assign the Contract Collaborators object take the following steps:

  1. From the Salesforce menu, open the Conga Contracts app.
  2. Click the Contract Agreement tab.
  3. Select your Contract Agreement.
  4. Click the Related tab.
  5. Under Contract Collaborators, click New.
  6. Fill out the required fields and click Save.

Contract Collaborators can be added as a child object to an object you select using the Automatic Configurator.

Legal Entity

A Legal Entity is another new custom object in the Contracts for Salesforce Managed Package. It is a place where you can store your internal organization’s legal information. Each Contract Agreement you create can be associated with a Legal Entity record. To utilize this functionality, the lookup relationship field between the Contract Agreement and Legal Entity objects must be added to the Contract Agreement layout.

At this time, the Legal Entity object is not exposed with a tab in Salesforce, but a tab can be created manually for this object.
