Category: Automation-Background Mode Parameter

Compatible with: Composer 8

Parameter Name: DS7

Parameter Value: [value]

Parameter Requirements: None

Parameter Description: DS7 enables Background Mode, which initiates the Composer without user intervention. This parameter enables merge operations to occur in the background. Merged documents are supported up to 25MB in size.

ValueDefinition
0Background Mode disabled. (Default)
1Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is attached to the master object.
2

Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is attached to a Salesforce email.

If you use this parameter and want to log activities or follow-up tasks, you must also enable Automatic Logging (AC0=1).

3

Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is delivered to the browser to save or open.

If you use this parameter and want to log activities or follow-up tasks, you must also enable Automatic Logging (AC0=1).

4

Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is attached to a new Adobe eSign Agreement. (See Adobe eSign integration parameters)

If you use this parameter and want to log activities or follow-up tasks, you must also enable Automatic Logging (AC0=1).

5Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is attached to the master object (like DS7=1), except that the user can navigate away from the master object while the merge process occurs.
6Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is attached to Salesforce Content.
7

Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is attached to a DocuSign Envelope.

If you use the DS7=7 parameter in a DocuSign-integrated Composer button, the routing order defined by the DocuSignR1ID parameter appears out of order on the DocuSign envelope and custom anchor tags are not assigned to the correct recipients. This is a result of a DocuSign API limitation. To resolve the incorrect ordering on the DocuSign envelope, drag the first row slightly upward using the dotted area. This issue does not occur when DS7=17 is used to bypass the DocuSign user interface.

8Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is saved in a SpringCM folder.
9Background Mode is enabled and the merged document (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, or PowerPoint) is saved to Google Drive.
11Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is attached to Salesforce Files for the Master Object.
12

Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is automatically delivered through email.

Using DS7=12 with a Conga Email Template requires the CongaEmailTemplateID (CETID) parameter and at least one of the following the email recipient parameters: EmailToID, EmailAdditionalTo, EmailCC.

Using DS7=12 with a Salesforce Email Template requires the EmailTemplateId parameter, as opposed to the CongaEmailTemplateID parameter, and the EmailToId parameter.

  • No preview is available for this parameter. Please test your configuration thoroughly before using it.
  • When used in conjunction with the UF0 parameter, your Composer Solution must be launched via a Lightning Component.
13

The parameter runs a merge in background mode, delivers the merged output to the user's browser, then returns the user to the Salesforce master record that initiated the merge.

Warning

This behavior is subject to browser restrictions and may not work consistently. After updating to Chrome Version 74.0.3729.108, users using a non-Oauth button URL are no longer prompted to download the merged document. The recommended workaround is to convert your button URL to an Oauth button to continue using &DS7=13. Alternatively, you can switch to using &DS7=3.

14

Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is automatically delivered through Adobe eSign.

No preview is available for this parameter. Please test your configuration thoroughly before using it.

17Background Mode is enabled and the merged document is attached to a DocuSign Envelope and automatically delivered.

When using Conga products and DocuSign in a fully automated fashion (such as using the background parameter/value pair &DS7=17, Conga Trigger, or Conga Batch) the DocuSign Username and Salesforce User Email must match. If not, you receive the error: Error: CreateEnvelope in DocuSignAPI. The UserID does not have a valid membership in this Account.

DocuSignTag=1 does not work with DS7=17 for automatic delivery.

Prerequisites for using DS7=17

  • You must create a unique password (App Password) associated with your profile (user ID), and then update the DocuSign 7 setting with App Password in the Conga Composer Setup tab. For more information, see the Integrating Composer with DocuSign for Salesforce 7.
  • DocuSignEndPoint=Prod (or Demo)
  • DocuSignR1ID
  • DocuSignR1Role
  • DocuSignR1Type
  • DocuSign Credentials on the USER record
  • Same email address in Salesforce as in DocuSign
19Background Mode is enabled and the merged document (Google Docs version) is saved to Google Drive.
