This section outlines how to access various versions of a template, view its information, and open it.

Only templates created through the Conga for Google Docs add-on are searchable or accessible. You will be able to view or open the template only if your organization's administrator has granted access to your user profile. Ensure that your web browser allows pop-ups.

Prerequisite

Your browser allows pop-ups.

To open a template

  1. Sign in to Google Docs and launch the add-on.
  2. Open a document and click Extensions > Conga for Google Docs > Launch. The Conga for Google Docs pane appears.
  3. Log in to Conga for Google Docs. The Home Page appears.
  4. Go to the Menu () icon and click Templates, or click Templates from the Home page. A template list appears.
  5. You can open a template from the list in three ways:
    1. Use the Search box to find a specific template by keyword and press Enter to display a list of templates. Click on the template name link.
    2. Hover over the template name link's Info () icon, then click Open.
    3. Hover over the template name link's Info () icon and select View All Version to list available template versions. Expand the desired version and click Open. For more information about versioning, see Versioning Templates.
  6. Click the Unlock () icon and select Acquire. You have now locked the template for editing. To avoid conflicts where two users might edit the same template simultaneously, the system allows updating the template after locking (acquiring). For more information on locking a template, see Locking Template.

If a template is locked by another user, the system provides a validation message indicating that the template is locked. You can wait until the template is unlocked and attempt to open it later. Use the Refresh () icon to get the updated locking status of the template. For more details about locking and unlocking templates see, Locking and Unlocking Templates

An active version of a template opens in a different tab. Simultaneously, the add-on pane details the opened template, its name, current version, local information, currency information, etc. You can modify the template per your requirement and check in your template. For more details, see Checking Templates In.
